I received a phonecall at 6:0l pm Monday night from a guy who actually identified himself (could have used a fake name) but I don't remember who he said he was. He said "I am ______ calling in behalf of the Social Security Administration. May I speak to Jan M. Humphrey?" I said "Why are you calling me so late?. He was really irate and said "Mam, I'm calling in behalf of the Social Security Administration!" Well, I don't think the Social Security Administration would call anyone, (they've always written to me) and even if they did call, they wouldn't call at 6:00 at night. I said "No you are not" and hung up. I went to my Caller ID and the number 866-870-7734 showed up Unavailable. I looked it up on Google and there is a Medicare "Alert" that this is a fraud. Maybe this group has already tried to scam some of you. When I called Social Security Tuesday morning, I was told they say they want to "help you with the Medicare prescription drug plans" and need your SSN to do it. Hang up on them.
( By the way, I don't even have a middle initial. I don't know where he got that.)

Medicare Scam
Good Alert, Thanks!
What ever happened to integrity?
LOL, TPlant... makes me wonder also
Glad to know about this -- I'll tell my MIL and mom.
Integrity's been missing as long as people have roamed the earth; it's just easier for scammers to go after larger numbers of people and in more ways now.
I hang-up on all calls if I don't regonize the caller. There is always somebody calling, trying to get you to give them information. Most of that crap is computer generated calling. They can dial thousands in a couple of minutes. DON'T BE A SUCKER!
Same with e-mail.
My wireless carrier has a program that lets nothing in. I have had no unwanted e-mail or virus since signing on with them. Love it!

I was outside with the Trick or Treaters when the phone rang for that call and answered the phone on the breezeway. Should've just let the voice mail pick it up. If important people want me, they'll leave a message or call me back. I shouldn't have been so eager to answer the call, but I hate a ringing phone. I have mine set to ring 5 times before the voice mail kicks in because sometimes when I'm outside it takes me that much time to get into the house to check the caller I.D. (I don't have a cell phone, yet. Absolutely wish I did.) I don't have a caller I.D. display for the phone outside or I wouldn't have answered, but I'm glad I did anyway. I was able to call my MIL and tell her about it.
