Dave's Garden Members' Choice Awards

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I was looking in extras and came across the old Awards.
This where always fun, we haven't done it for a few years. I thought maybe it was time to do it again.
Maybe include some statistical things that Dave used to post all the time in them as well, queen(king) gasbag, the top 5 most posted on threads, or any other fun stats.

Here are the blast from the past. http://davesgarden.com/2001_awards/
and http://davesgarden.com/2002_awards/

It's been a while so I am sure members have different favorites. Anybody else think it would be a fun idea?

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sure! I'm always up for FUN.

Oakland, OR(Zone 8a)

You bet! I love it when someone asks my opinion. LOL Dotti

Crossville, TN

Mystic...I've been wondering all week who was Queen/King gasbag!! LOL Jo

Sultan, WA(Zone 8a)

I was looking at those and wondering if it was something that anyone was planning on doing this year. What fun!

Crossville, TN

Yeah...I hope we have enough interest..it is lots of fun. Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I would love to do this every year! This would be a lot of fun, if you need someone to help count votes or something I would love to help!

Mitch

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

LOL, I may be in the running for "gasbag"!!!

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Oh yes, let's go with the "gasbag" vote.

I love the idea. I'll see about getting it done sometime during the coming month!

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Would "blu" win for longest craziest thread EVER??

We have it almost to 1100 posts, lol.

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

OH MG LOL
*running and hiding and lol the whole way*

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh, those were such fun threads - thanks for bringing them back up, Peggy!

"Blu" surely wins, until I clear the Test forum, which I do from time to time, ya know!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Oh no, I am so blu.

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

boohoo for blu

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Would you consider archiving "blu" as a classic thread?

I wouldn't want to have to start over in another forum......And would you really want us to?

I'll move it to Jokes and Chitchat.

I think maybe the whole crew of "Coffee and..." http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/554412/ should get the gasbag award! We are up to 48 threads, ranging from 130-175 posts each. That's a minimum of at least 6,000 posts! We start a new thread at least every other day now to keep from slowing it down for dial-ups.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

I'm ready to do this :)

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank you Dave!

Guess you didn't want us running amok?

Have to remember that.......lol.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Thank you so much Davemeister!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

When we started the Members' Choice Awards, DG was a fledgling site, so I don't know that the honorees were wowed by their award.

Fast-forward five years and 180,000 some members later, and I suspect (based on the companies that proudly and prominently display their GWD Top 30 status), that this time around, a DG Members' Choice Award for best book, best mailorder vendor, best magazine, etc. will carry a lot more weight.

And it's just plain fun ;o) (Thanks for bringing it back up!)

It seems like we did the past awards in late winter/early spring - maybe that would be a good time to do the next one (especially considering the photo contest is getting a late start this year...)

Good idea, Terry. Maybe doing this in January or February would be best.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Sounds good to me. Thanks for doing it. Now I have to go check out the blu thread. :)

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

oh no

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Gas bag award, yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

...And here I was afraid Dave would kick the 'Coffee and...' thread off the site if he ever reaized how much of his space we were using. LOL

I have to check this out too.

Another thread reminded me of this. Do you think now would be a good time?

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Sounds like fun. Let's do it.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I agree, sounds like a lot of fun!

Crossville, TN

Go for it! Jo

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Dave and I had discussed doing one this past spring, but I dropped the ball, so you can blame me for the lack of one this year.

If all goes according to plan, we'll probably set one up for late Feb/early March of next year. (They're a little time-consuming: first theres an open call for nominees, then manual tallying of all the submissions; then a second round to vote on the finalists.)

The annual photo contest will be coming up soon, and that tends to take a lot of the DG community's time and attention to submit and vote on the photos ;o)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Terry, I've been looking for the winner of the bug files banner contest, am I a dunce or what? Where'd it go?

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

This does sound like fun!

Especially with the large, diverse group of members these days....the nominations and results will be quite interesting!!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

The BugFiles banner contest is still going on. Here is a link to the thread: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/639677/
