Hard to imagine next month we start our rainy season and lots of my color will be gone!
Ruthie today. Lighter but still rings my pink bell. LOL!
It is a beautiful day here.
kell, your brugs and roses are a dream. thanks for sharing them.
Kell, All your flowers are so pretty. Thanks for sharing. Cindy
Is that Eden?
AHHH Kell those roses are lovely, what is the blue flower? you are a flower nut. *LOL*
Thanks Annapet, you are always so kind.
I am off to work. It is Friday which is date night, so I need to sneak out early so we can get to San Francisco before the traffic gets horrible. Have a great afternoon!!
I just took one more..... hard to leave here when I know the beautiful days are so numbered.
Kell I love the first picture with the roses in the background. You definately have a green thumb!
Kell, your garden must be gorgeous. I wish I had more places for Roses, they are one of my favorite flowers.
Kell, you are the Queen of Pink for sure! Your roses are beautiful. They inspire me to keep them in my garden in spite of our humidity. Love you,
Loretta
Oh thanks Loretta. You are such a sweetheart.
I have to admit, if I had 1 of my favorite roses before me and my best brug, I would have to pick my rose. They just bloom so much and I can't believe I am saying this, but next to brugs they are a walk in the park in growing good ones. LOL
Thanks Cindy, Patricia and Cindy!!
Doris, it is Tibouchina urvilleana. I have 3 big trees of it across the back of my front garden. So they tower over and somewhat drape over my fence on their backside so my courtyard is framed in purple from spring to Christmas. It is one of my favorite plants in the world.
Thanks so much, Kin. I must really dawdle over my posts to have such a difference in our posting times. I know I always get sidetracked. Just now I was looking for my pic of Tibouchina urvilleana for Doris and ended up looking at pics of some other of my roses.
Some day I would love to have everything blooming at the exact same time. Can you imagine?? I would die of ecstasy! LOL
I completely understand! When a beautiful China is putting on a show........well what can I say?
Loretta
Beautiful pictures, Kell. I love the Tibouchina Urvilleana but it doesn''t want to grow here for me.
Kell , your garden is BEAUTIFUL !
Elva
Gorgeous kell...looks like this weather is really great for brugs! Mine seem to be doing better than in the heat!
Beautiful pictures! :-)
Kell, your masterful combination of colors and plants is soooo amazing! Your babies look so happy, thanks for sharing. Neal.
Thank you all very much. I love taking pictures. I have been whining on another forum that yesterday I broke my brand new Canon SD550 that just came onto the market last month. Somehow I cracked the view window from the inside it looks like. I had it in my pocket, took it out to take a picture of some rose bunches and the window was splotched.
It is one of those 2 1/2 inch windows. I wonder if that is just too big and is weak. $500 gone. So I ordered the S80, 8 megapixels that just came on the market this week. I was so upset but now I am eagerly looking forward to this new one. It is not in their point and click category so I am a bit nervous over it. I may actually have to read a manual. LOL
This is my next must have, a vireya rhododendron. This one was several feet long, growing from a wire basket and twined along a roof line. The owner said they need a little pot for they are epiphytic like in nature. Just too cool. They bloom several times also unlike regular rhododendrons. Sue and I are going to fo nuts on these come spring. If I can wait that long. LOL
Kell, did you see my e-mail about the nearly red brug you had last year? Did it remain true? Did you name it?
Kell - check with Canon - They fixed my AE-1 for free about 5 years ago . I had bought it new 25 years ago . The repair station is/was in Hayward .
Oh they are having me send it to Illinois Tony. I sure hope they fix it for free but I have my doubts.
Betty, I did and I apologize. I read it on the run then forgot about it. Red is alive and kicking. I posted a picture I took of it the other day though I am not sure where. It is lighter in the cool weather but still dark. More orange when it is lighter without the pink influences. She is very difficult to root. I think only 2 other people have her. I will admit I have not been rooting like I have in the past and seem to be busy doing nothing. I had a couple others this summer that were very dark too. All have that orangey tint to them.
that tibouchina is beautiful. I am curious why ahelms says it won't grow in kannapolis. Does it like alkaline soil?
Betty, I don't think it liked our heat and humidity. It's still struggling but doing much better since it has cooled off. it's in the greenhouse now.
Oh Ada, and you are so good with all plants. When and if I mature (meaning get a work ethic) I want to be a gardener just like you! I really do. If you lived here, you would put me to such shame!!
I have no clue what kind of soil it likes, Betty. I know it likes to be pruned. If you do not prune it becomes spindly. Mine are very full and very purple. I toss a huge handful of 16-16-16 fertilzer maybe twice a year and prune them in the early spring and then literally forget about them. They get no bugs or diseases, at least not in the 30 years I have grown them. And they bloom maybe 9 out of 12 months. What is really odd, is I rarely see any in anyones yard. Isn't that weird?? I have 5 of them, all good size small trees. I know a good thing when I see it. LOL
Oh Sue, I am so sorry, I missed your question. YES, that second rose is Eden Climber. A beauty for sure. I get about 4 good shows a season out of her. Not bad!! I have her on an arbor.
Wow Kell you are making me sad and missing my yard and flowers. I really love that rhododendron
Hi DONNA!!! Well do not be too sad. I can picture your new yard, it is so great. You will have islands of grandeur all over. I can't wait to see what you do with it all!! It is so good to have you back!! You know my poor sister is still evacuated in Houston. I know she is beside herself. Her DH is back in New Orleans. It sure has been a long haul for all you guys.
Kell it has been horrid. We almost lost this house because the insurance checks keep going MIA in the mail. We had to borrow the down payment from relatives or lose it. Insurance said they sent a check on the 18th of Oct and 2 weeks ago they said they closed our case and paid us off but still no checks!!!!! Can you believe that???? And Saturday my shadow(PooBear) got run over diliberated buy so idiot that refused to stop when he was only going 10 mph. 400 dollars at the emergency Vet and had to go all the way to Wool Market 45 minutes away. All our vets got wiped out too. Poor pitiful Poo is all torn up and has a fracture right leg. Tim chased him down in the car and gave him what for!!!!!
Oh NO!! What a terrible thing. So senseless. I hope you make that madman pay for the vet bills. I remember your pictures last year of your baby. I am so sorry Donna. And am so glad the dog will be OK! I just do not get some people at all.
I do believe your insurance company. Every day they get to keep the money they get interest on it. Is there some federal agancy set up to report bad insurance companies? I bet you are not the only one getting jerked around!! But at least your got your house. You will have nice holidays for sure!! Are you cooking for Thanksgivnig this year in your new kitchen?
Kell it is the Feds lol!!!!!!!!! The Federal Government subsudizes the flood insurance program. All State did the claim and then it was sent to Washington, D.C.
Yes I am cooking but not going crazy. I am to worn out and hurting now. Just Turkey breast, dressing, Sweet Potatoe Casserole, Canned Cranberry Sauce, Pumpkin Pie for Tim and maybe Pumpkin Bread for me and some kind of veggie. I usually make Stuffed Mirliton with shrimp but don't feel like fooling with it this year. Your sister probably knows what it is. Old recipe from my Mims(grandmother) she was from Metarie
Ah... my sister lived in Metaire!! She may live there again if her kid's high school ever opens in New Orleans. I will ask her about it right away! Don't you love the internet?
She is going to New Jersey for Thanksgiving to be with my siblings. First one without our Mom. My boy will go too from NY to NJ. So they will all be together. We should have gone also but I thought it would be way too sad. Now I am sad I won't get to see my boy! Oh well........... maybe I should make some stuffed Mirliton. Though I am afraid to find out what a Mirliton is. I assume it was alive at one point. LOL!
You take care of yourself, Donna. I bet you have gone way overboard moving and getting your new house together. Remember you only have 1 back!!
LOL Donna, it is squash!!! I thought it was going to be a bird. Or a fish. LOL!
Sounds so good. I may try it with the round kind of squash we have here.
http://www.gumbopages.com/food/veg/mawmaw-mirlitons.html
but is really not the same as squash, but made like squash casserole
OK, you need to send me some of those Mirliton then. LOL
