PerennialGirl, I think I have the same yellow thanksgiving cactus as you, but mine is just coming into bud. Its a really different colour from the beuatiful, yet oh so common, fuchsia-pink ones.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Fancy, yours looks more yellow than mine. I did some trades to get some yellow cuttings. One of my new cuttings does have a bloom but I didn't check to see what color.

Thanks, Todd. I picked up another color today that looks more like Candy's white/fuschia. The buds haven't opened up yet.

Clare, oh I see. Just like an unk. aloe (?) I have in a strawberry pot. It is in full sun and it is the same reddish color as your plant. I like that.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Nery! I like that too. Yes, it happens with some other succulents/cacti too, but some handle it better than others. I have a rhipsalis that didn't like it much, and the leaves not only turned red, but they got a bit dried out too. Now I have that one in shade.

Heres the first blooms on the one I call orange.

Hi all:
Just to share a white one that today has shown its first bloom this year. If I'm not wrong this cultivar is called Thor-Britta.

Just BEEEE-U-TI-FUL!!! Gosh!
Maybe you can answer a question for me?
After seeing everybody's pictures of their holiday cactus in bloom, I ran out to Wally World, pilfered through their shipment, and brought home 3 large plants just COVERED in blooms and buds.
Here it is a month later and.....MOST of the bud failed to open. They just FELL OFF. =( What did I do wrong?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

You didnt really do anything wrong. If you move a Christmas Cactus when it is in bud you will probably lose most of the buds. The blooms probably didnt fall off? It will likely bloom again in a couple of months.

Many years ago my parents came to house sit while I was away the month of November. I had a lovely CC in full bud up in a south window in my bathroom ( which is actually a converted bedroom - big, sunny room) When I came home the cactus was downstairs in the dining room window with almost no buds or flowers. What happened? Mom thought it should be someplace where she could enjoy looking at it and didnt realize it was the wrong time to move it - the buds almost all dropped off.

But you never know - I was given a cutting of a yellow a couple of months ago, cut it into pieces - there were buds on each piece and we thought they would drop off. Two of them actually bloomed and the cuttings were not even rooted yet!

Gingerose I love that color in the 2nd pic. Maybe we could do a trade next spring? I have about 8 different colors now including a couple of yellows. ( and I think the same 2 fushias in your other pics) although one is just a newly rooted cutting.

Seems to be a lot of us interested in these plants - there are several threads here and in Cacuts and Succulents. Maybe we could do some trading in the spring. Somebody, I dont remember who, has a gorgeous peach color I covet.

Lake Jackson, TX

yes.. you bet I'd be more then happy to trade next spring I love these cactus and they do real well for me ..I bet I know what color your talking about It really is a beau.....I have one like Darius has its peach/orange and white in the center..here is a picture of it (I know thats not the one you want..lol) I also have two white ones

Gingerose that is gorgeous.

I am happy to have cuttings of any color I dont have- LOL! And to share.
Ive really gotten into wanting to collect a lot of different colors now I have discovered sources for them! I am trying to take pics of all the flowers Ihave (just the flowers , in a group, so it will be easy to compare the colors. This is what I have so far ( the others have not flowered yet this winter).
Hard to get the colors right - I am not an experienced photographer. The middle one in the bottom row is the yellow i recently found - I think it is Gold Charm.

Fancy, Ginger....your pictures are just BEE-U-TI-FUL!
A while back, someone (I think you, Fancy) posted a gorgeous yellow bloomer and I commented that I'd love to have one. Well, lo and behold I was at Menards last week and they had a small, (yet still blooming) yellow.....marked down to $3.88....SO NOW I HAVE ONE! =0)
And just today, I was at the local Lowes.....they had several Christmas Cactus that someone quite obviously has ignored/forgot to water...and all the buds were dropping off (some plants completely naked so no idea what color THEY were). They were all rather wilty and punie-looking. But they were STILL FULL PRICE of $5.88. HA! Yeah, riiiiight. I'll wait til they go on sale for $1.50.
But there WAS one that temped me ---- it was one that was either of that variegated variety (posted by Awanda - did you guys see that? OH WOW!!) OR SEVERELY DEHYDRATED and turning yellow.
Do they do that? Do any of you know? Cuz they were really limp and dry. But if it was variegated - I'M GOING BACK and I'LL EVEN PAY THEIR FULL PRICE! =0)
Betsy

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Betsy - I dont know if they change color if they are not watered. I would think they would just fade and go limp. If you suspect that is a variegated one Id go grab it - and offer them half price because it is in such poor shape! Glad to hear you found a yellow.

I notice in the past couple of years there are more and more color variations appearing in the stores.

Lake Jackson, TX

Fancy... the one you bought called Gold charm ..I found some at a nursery for $3.50 so I bought 6 diffrence colors ..will picture them tomorrow..I had a white one bloom to day and it had 2 branches of a peach color on it so I have 2 for the price of 1
BETSY ..great find ..a yellow one..But be careful of the other one you were talking about, when they get dry and wimpy sometimes they are to far gone.. ..I have this plant that was in the green house that does not have a single bud on it ..I bet its a Thanksgiving one ..maybe ..ha

Faye Im sure that is a Thanksgiving.

Mt Zion, IL(Zone 5b)

haven't gone back to look at Lowes yet.....but thanks for the "too far gone" warning!
Yes, alot more colors are showing up in the "box stores" these days. Never thought I'd find a YELLOW one there. =0)
