Brug Seedlings Blooming

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Vee8ch, you said that some people frown on brugs that do not have a complete history. Can a brug be named without knowing the complete history?

Absolutely yes you can name a seedling and not know anything about it. All you need is one known parent to register that name.

Thanks for letting me know. I have to talk to DH about trialing this plant. I was looking online and read that I should grow this plant for 1 year, through all the seasons before trialing it. I'm going to get more pictures tomorrow, this plant must be more like the pollen parent, except for the double blooms. The leaves are totaly different, not soft, they are shiny and pointed scalloped edged, not sure what to call the edge of the leaf. And the part of plant that the bloom comes out of has 3 slits, not one like the bloom on my golden lady. The size of the bloom is the same on this plant as is on my golden lady. I have a lot to learn about Brugs other than how to keep them alive, bug free and blooming.

There is so much more to a beautiful quality brug than just its flowers. Take your time Cathy. I'm sure I am not the only one that respects your attitude. ... vicki

Ditto...on the Golden Lady X unknown! It is lovely and quite unusual as well. Not very many doubles in colors that I know of!

Cathy, I luv your blooms.....especially your Golden Lady x unknown! What do you do with your brug seedlings to get them to Y and bloom the first year from seeds??

Donna, I just follow all the advise given here on daves. I start my seeds in Dec-Feb and they all bloomed for me. I feed them with messenger, alfalfa tea, and other fertilizers, and I water them often. This year I planted my seedlings in the ground and they grew quickly and did much better, last year I grew them in pots and they were a lot of work keeping them watered. These plants need a lot of TLC, but they are worth it.

Cathy
