What if trader forgets SASE and stamps?

West Portsmouth, OH(Zone 6a)

If, in a trade, your trader sends you your seeds but forgets to send you a SASE to return the seeds she/he is trading for , do you eventually tell her/him, or just send the seeds and forget about it?

Im not sure if Im reading your question right, it sounds like a trader was supposed to trade you seeds for seeds but also supposed to send postage, is that right?
If thats the case you can do either write a quick dmail and let them know they forgot postage( remember its not an uncommon mistake to do this) send them anyway with a note and let it go at that or email them the note and say you can owe me so that if you see something you want later that they are offering they can just return the favor then.

Most of us have forgotten to send sase/postage and dont even realize what we did until we're told what happend, its the excitement of the trade and I know Im looking at getting my half out asap and have often had to remake another envy to put my half in the envy, LOL.

Hope this helps

It helps a lot. I sent the seeds in a bubble envelope I had and paid the postage and never said anything. I knew it was an honest mistake, but I wasn't sure if I should've said anything. I'm glad I didn't this time, but I'll know in the future that it'll be ok to say something. Thanks.

I've just started requiring SASE this year. In previous years, I've just paid the postage myself. I have lots of bubblewrap and envelopes, so I just wait for the stamps to be mailed. That will cost the sender an additional 37 cents, rather than an extra 49 cents. I ask them to include their real name, address, DG name, and a list of what I am to send them.

If someone forgot to send the stamps, I'd probably send them a D-mail to let them know, then decide how to proceed by their response. Sometimes receiving postage to send free seeds is more a question of someone making some effort or committment beyond the original request. If it's an honest oversight, I'd probably send them anyway... I have no rigid rules on that one.

If it's a trade, then why does the trader owe you a SASE?? They already sent you seeds that they paid the postage on. Maybe there's something I just don't understand.

Yes, I think it's a question we all have, Deb. I've had a couple trades this year in which the trader had one or two things to trade, but wanted 15 things from my SASE list. If I think I'll have to use more than 49 cents postage, I might require additional, so maybe that is the case.

Well, that's understandable, when the trade is lop-sided to require additional postage.

Just a guess on my part.

Ok, was it an even trade but you also sent postage? If that's the case, I usually don't send any postage if it's an even trade maybe that's why this person didn't send any. Sorry, I'm a little confused as to why you sent postage...

An SASE is usually used when it is a one-sided trade, meaning the person sending the SASE is not sending seeds but just wants seeds from you..

I guess I asked the question wrong. Although I took care of this a long, long time ago, my question should have been framed like this: I had seeds to give away. The gardener wanted some and was supposed to send a SASE. Sent one without stamps. I sent the seeds, mentioned that she forgot the stamps, she apologized, and she and I have become great friends. Does that clear it up?

Now, I'm still learning how to do things, so how do I close this thread?

LOL, Pollyanna, I dont think you can close it but I think your last post there sums it up quite nicely. Dont worry about still learning how to do things, alot of us still are.
Have a great Thanksgiving!

I think if you made a friend it would certainly be worth the price of a stamp. That is just my opinion tho. I would just forget about it I think.

If you can get friends for the price of a stamp, I'm buying a whole roll!
