Why DG is so great

Of course, gardening is the prime reason why we are all here together sailing in the same boat.... nay, I must call it a Ship now... We've exchanged so much information, learnt newer things about this magnificent pastime called gardening each time we hit the keys. We were able to peep in to each other's gardens through beautiful pictures shared by members and got new ideas to adapt in our own gardens. I'm sure there are many who are also benifitted by the knowledge gained here like me. But the beauty is, when there is nothing much to share about gardening - this happens to all of us at times, I believe - we can still find ourselves hitting the keyboard looking at the screen having logged in to DG. There are so many other forums that interests us in those times. [I'm temporarily in this situation now]. You can share your happiness, your sorrows - and find shoulders to cry upon to releive the stress, you can chat, you can joke.... I think everything decent is there for the asking .... here on DG. I'm severely handicapped in the absence of a digital camera and that's why you find myself digging up old threads. You can trade seeds with wonderfully generous people. It's just a lovely big family having the same. We have people having amazing talents sharing them with us. I think DG is the best thing in recent times that has happened to me. I have learnt many things in what I call as my "post-DG era". I'm fortunate to have found some wonderful friends. But to top it all, DG has changed the way I looked at gardening in my "pre-DG era". But for the Angels who have been responsible for my being here, I'd not have had this very rare opportunity of being among what I consider the 'elite group' - for, not many are lucky to be gardening and not many know what it is to be a member of DG! I'm obliged for all the nice things that have come my way. I'm still pondering how I can repay for all the knowledge I have gained - though I have failed to some extent in properly implementing practically. Just thought of sharing a few thoughts -- as I had no gardening titbits to share at this moment! Thanks for your patient reading.

You said it so well for all of us. I too also read all of your posts. In fact, I look for your name in forums.

I share your sentiments. I just love it here at DG. I have met so many wonderful people, and have made friends of many of them. I have gained knowledge about gardening, and am in heaven when I am out working in mine, be it the flowers or the veggies. Thanks all for making this a wonderful place to hang out!!

There was a TV advetisement with a catchy phrase "Neighbour's envy, owner's pride". We may compare 'neighbour' as other gardening websites here. But to me DG is the ONLY place - perhaps due to shortage of time - I have been visiting ever since I stumbled upon accidentally in 2001. I signed in to Gardenweb, but somehow the place never appealed to me during my handful of hits there. Any group that forms should have all the characterestics of a family. Only then, it will have that special touch. Thanks to Dave, Trish, Terry, et al. They have been doing a really fine job in sustaining these aspects all through. Whenever I hold any garden implements and go out there, some thread or other pops up in my mind in order to imitate the actions or the layout or the methods. Not a day goes by without me having thought of DG or my friends here. I'm not exaggerating. I'll not be surprised if there are many others who do and think likewise, because as I told, this place has that special touch. Not much books on gardening are available here and in this circumstance, DG serves the role though I can't keep it in my shelf.

I have just joined this summer and was immediately addicted. I can't wait to get in and see what's going on today that wasn't there yesterday (if the truth be known, I check several times a day). I've learned SO much, met new people, traded with some, and know that I will never see anything inappropriate here. I love this place.
