Hiya friends.
My wife has a few unique geraniums and we usually just let winter kill them off and buy new.
Well a friend said something about throwing them inna bucket and storing them kinda like a bulb(or our elephant ears). Has anyone else ever heard of such a thing? Please let me know if you have any ideas on storing these for winter.
Thanks, JD
Geranium indoor storage for winter?!
Store ours in an insulated garage under lights (Clay Center, KS), but have taken stem cuttings and rooted them in water on a windowsill. Have heard of storing semi dried, hanging upside down in a cool storage area.. not able to comment on it.
My mother in law does this all the time and she has had some of the same geraniums for years. I was actually thinking of trying some myself. I have a pretty tricolor one and would like to try to save them.
My grandmother (dead these 20 years) always used to keep her geraniums in a bright window all winter. I inherited two copper humidifying trays (I think) that I think she used under the geraniums. I only saw her there in the winter so I don't know about the summer.
