Looking for photos in the plant files

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

I have a memory like a seive... or is that a sieve.. .can't remember. Anyway, I have put a number of photos in the data base and have since forgetten where they are exactly. I can sift through all the photos but is there any short cut beyond the number '20' to go back? Same problem with some plants I had Identified in that identification forum- was WAY longer ago than the number 20 will take me to.. more like 100... but after taking the short cut to 20 pages back, it's one at a time, and for us with sluggish computers, that can take all day... any way we can get short cuts that go 100 back... or 200... or 1000? It would sure save me a ton of time.

You should be able to change the offset to hone in on the pics beyond page 20. Here's an example of one starting with offset=1000. The first one shows the text with a few spaces inserted to give you an idea of what the link looks like; the second one should actually work.

Hope this helps!

That's what I was gonna suggest. If you look up at the addy bar when you are in the middle of all those pics, you will notice that end number change each time you go back further. Just go up and type in a bigger number and it should jump back further. Play around a little and you'll see the corelation.

If there were a way to sort them alphabetically, as by clicking on the header, that would help in many cases, especially if you remember the plant's name, LOL.

This deserves a bump, Dave, doesn't it?

Also, could search results be alphabetized?

....Caution!....
Bumps ahead

Edited to center-justify.

I was thinking the same as Palmbob just recently.
Could the 'images uploaded' page and 'plants by' be set to 100 plants per page and also, 100 pages?
That would give 10,000 photos/plants
Just like it is when you click on a forum.

I also like the alphabetize idea.

That's a hard page with which to work, but I'll do what I can.

Thanks for looking, Dave.

I've done a little bit today.

I have made it obey the preferences that you set right here:

http://davesgarden.com/prefs/preferences.php

"How many results to you want to see on each page?"

Select 100.

Once you do that, you'll see 100 pictures per page, plus you'll get the page numbers going all the way to 100.

That's a short term fix. Long term fix comes a little later.

The short term fix works nicely for me, though I barely have enough to test two pages. ;)

How about the alphabetizing of search results, especially in the PF?

It works good on the "Images by" page, but it's not working on the "2587 plants" page (only 20 plants and 20 pages) but I'm not sure the latter is a necessary or redundant feature. Either way, Thanks.

Right, I only added the feature to the "images by..." page. I definitely have on the TODO to go through all the pages and get that consistent...

dave

I dramatically improved this today. Pages are now numbered all the way to the end and you should be able to skip forward faster.

Oh YEAH!!!! Very nice, Dave. I like how you made the current page number larger and bold, and how you get a range of pages around it.

thanks!

Happily. :)
