Where would you begin to...

If you had something you had written and were looking to get it published, how would you suggest one go about that task?

I have written something with great compliments and think it may be even better in print on a card or something. I checked with publish.com and it looks like mostly blogs, etc.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I had a story published several years ago. I sent copies to all the magazines that fit my topic and one of them accepted it. I don't know if that's the kind of publishing you are talking about or not. If it's a book, I guess you would have to do the same sort of thing and send it to publishers. You can publish it yourself also, but I haven't checked into how to do that. Good luck with it.

Thanks, that is kinda what I had in mind. I have had photos published, but the publisher actually found me and the photos through my webpage, hhcreations.com. Perhaps I should begin there and post my story on my webpage and then start sending it out.

That's a thought. Maybe just parts of it, as you want to be able to sell it, right?

yea haighr, i agree, dont post the whole thing....in fact, i wouldnt post it at all. photos are one thing, but a story is something else.

can you do a search on google, like "publish my story" or something like that...

have you tried magazines? or is it more in a book format?

good luckl and let us know how you get on

Thanks for the tips everyone. The subject is a verse I wrote. I have checked out google and gotten some very good information on what to do and "NOT to do" especially regarding contests, etc.
Not that concerned about selling it, just would like to see it published. I had some photos published once a few years ago and it was quite flattering.
I had someone suggest I start with my own webpage as that is how the photos were found.
I'll keep you posted. I did make a submission to PlantDelights and actually got a response that they may be interested as they thought it was quite good, but as everyone knows, their quarterly catalog is very "hot real estate" due to the covers, so we'll see.

Good luck with it.
