Aren't they fantastic flowers, Janett!

yes they really are. I also loved the leaveforms on Cardinal Climber.

Janett, the photo you posted
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1808685
could be "Hinge" or "'Sunrise Serenade' (Ipomoea purpurea)"
Here is one link

and the other

I am pretty sure it is one of those...
Dee
After I have looked at all the flowers and read the comments on it and reading the description she gave me, I think its leaning toards the Sunrise Serenade.
On "hige" there where a few comments that did not fit the desc.
But will check more when I get it flowering.

tazzy - I can't see the details enough in that grouping...it's not enlarging clearly for me...can you show me what the sepals look like on the base of the flower and on the almost mature seedpods...I could give you better feedback,if I could see those features, since those are what I like to use to key out most species...flowers,leaves andspines are useful too,but I'd like to be able to enlarge them...as many of the differences can be subtle,in the quamoclit series...
Looking forward to any closeups of parts mentioned...
If the plant is just starting to bloom,it would seem that it is a short day plant from a warmer zone area that has a relatively warm winter to allow the seedpods to mature...also please let me know where the spines are...are they only on the main stem, and on all stages of growth,or just on the most mature parts...(??)...
TTY,...

Put some seeds from the tri-lobed aside for me...I am still in the process of gathering different types of small quamoclit series plants and going to grow them out next season for a grand finale comparison...You may have a noah varient...I say that because of the degree to which the pods are reflexing...Ipomoea coccinea usually has seedpods that should reflex and a longer calyx than Ipomoea hederifolia ...Ipomoea hederifolia is being considered by some serious botanists as Ipomoea coccinea var.hederifolia, but,Ipomoea hederifolia seedpods should not reflex and remain erect...I am very interested to grow out as many different, but closely related types that I can locate...You may have a cross of some type...the sepals seem to have a larger protrusion on the top of the sepals...do the sepal shapes and protrusions look exactly the same to you(?),or do you see noticeable differences...no matter how slight(!)...as compared to the regular Noah that you are growing...
The flower reminds me of Ipomoea hederifolia, but there are many flower variations of that taxa also...I don't have a more definitive opinion other than what I can offer so far...perhaps as the plant progresses, some other noteworthy feature may be garnered...
Did you receive both types labeled as 'Noah'(?)...it may be a variant that displays exactly what you described, regarding the color and size of the flowers, the later blooming period and the different leaf shape...
I'd like to give you a more definitive answer, but if I don't know an exact answer,I'm not going to just make one up...
I'll try to give you the best ID that I can,as I am able to...
Looking forward to seeing more of this plant...
