When you are in PlantFiles and find a plant that you have I understand by clicking on zip code that indicates it grows in your area. Specifically I took it to understand that by doing this it means that you personally have grown it. Is that the case?
I have been doing this adding photos showing my plants but now am beginning to wonder if by saying "area" it is just a general term meaning "I've seen it here".
Can anyone please advise?
Zip code question
Ummmm, yes.
Really - it's both. If you've successfully grown it, by all means add your ZIP code. If your neighbor grows it, you can add your ZIP code. If you spot it growing well in a nearby park, arboretum, or in the middle of a supermarket parking lot where you shop, add it ;o)
The reason for collecting ZIP codes is to provide gardeners with a ready reference of plants that grow well within a set radius of them. So it really doesn't matter if you grew it or not, but whether you *know* (through first-hand experience or observation) that it grows well in your corner of the world.
Thanks Terry. You have answered my question.
One last question.
In order to show what plants I have grown, then that is what the journal is mainly used for?
Yes, the journal is for you to keep records of plants you are growing in your own garden.
Thanks Terry
