I just wanted to say thank you to the DG members for all their insight and help and generosity and pictures and inspiration! I love it that I can come here and spend a couple of hours browsing the forums and plant files and come away with new knowledge and ideas and help. I appreciate all of you that take the time to share your expertise and especially those that post pictures of their gardens! There are so many beautiful ones! You all have taught me so many things and I just wanted to let you know what a great group of people you all are! :-)
Thank you to DG members, for so many things!
Ditto from me. I couldn't have said it better, friend.
HI, Neither of you know me yet-but want to say "welcome". Have been around for awile and dg has been my family in so many ways.
When you check the sites (extras) don't forget to check the cookbook-my Dragon Cookies are on there. I serve them to friends and family-enjoy and let the gardening continue!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Oh, another Ohioan! :) Hi, kbaumle! DG is a wonderful place, and the friendships extend far, far beyond just gardening advice. We're constantly amazed by what this site has become in its five years' existence.
Oooooh, cookies!! I love cookies!!! :-)
Thank you for the welcome mat, Marcia. I really can't believe how addicting this site is. Where can I read about how it got started? And how do I find your recipe?
KBaumle, I just visited your homepage to see how long you've been coming here, and I saw you sitting in that chair! Please explain that.
LOL!! When we visited my aunt and uncle last summer, they live in Godfrey, Illinois, which is near Alton. Alton is the hometown of Robert Wadlow, the world's tallest person. He's dead now, but he was 8' 11.1" tall. They have a life-size statue of him there, as well as a replica of his chair. That's me in the chair. Here is a picture of me standing beside his statue:
Can I add my thanks, too? I've gotten so many great ideas and plant recommendations and wonderful inspiration to keep me motivated. I think gardeners are some of the most generous people.
Thanks for the explanation of the chair/statue. You look like a child. Cute. Sanannie, yes, I agree!
I'm 5' 4" tall, in case you were wondering! LOL.
kbaumle,
Such a small world. My grandmother was from the Alton area and met Robert Wadlow. I grew up hearing stories of him. We tease my nephew who is 13 years old and is now 6 ft. 2 in. that he will be the next Robert Wadlow. I was born in Woodriver, IL and now live in Southern IL. I just joined DG in April and visit daily. This is my favorite website. There is so much information, almost overwhelming at times. A good overwhelming I might add :)
bggarden1, I know where Wood River is! We go by that when we go to my aunt and uncle's. Not to be disrespectful, but when I think of Wood River, I think of a place that doesn't smell very good. LOL.
