Server transitioned...

I was able to move the server without affecting anything and there has been no downtime yet. We are now running on a clustered server setup.

Well, how's it working? Any bugs? It might take a couple hours for it to stabilize in terms of speed.

Northern California, CA

Temporary burp for a couple of minutes there, but running fast and smooth here Dave. :-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Zipping along nicely here :)

crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

no problems :)

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

cruising fine, here.

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

No peoblem here.

(Except the system is caufing msfpelings, lol.)

Well, the servers are really enjoying the new arrangement. Splitting the load between the two of them has made a significant difference. We should be setup with this arrangement for quite some time now.

But what about the sfpelings?

Shucks Dave - why ever not you fix msost other things ;>)))

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Odd, I'm unable to view any newly posted photos this morning. No red 'x', just the message saying click to enlarge but nothing there.

Can you give me a URL to where this is happening?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/544761/

let me know if you need more. PF photos show just fine though.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

It's a real oddity. Does not matter which forum - Identification, Tropicals, etc. Any photo from a member does not show but has no 'x'. But photos loaded via PF photos are there. Can not bring up Newsletters on News page.

Thanks for your help.

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

I didn't have any problem with the photos on that link, haven't had any problems on any of the other forums. Very curious that you can only view photos correctly in the PF photos!

Dea,

You might be hitting DG using a different server. Tell me: when you look at the address field in your web browser, what does it say?

Dave

Never mind that, Dea. You are indeed looking at the old server.

Please reboot your machine and you should be fine again.

Dave

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Totally re-booted and still nada - quirky, eh?

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

fine heyah

Yes it is.

You're looking at the old server which means that your DNS servers haven't been updated. That probably means that your ISP is blatantly disobeying the DNS standard.

Anyway, you can ask them to refresh their DNS tables, or you can just use this:

http://lamb.davesgarden.com/

The URL will work for you, but I can only guarantee that it will work for the next couple days. You'll want to keep trying the main address every so often until it finally works.

Hint: Go to the homepage of DG and look at the bottom. If it says "lion" then you're looking at the wrong one. If it says "lamb" then you're in business.

Dave

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Right you are! It says lion and I certainly want to be with the lamb ;)

Thanks!!

The lion comes later. :-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

:)

Michael is happily contacting the head of IT to tell them of their blatant disobedience; I hear him now - he is roaring with laughter. hehehe

He can tell them that the TTL (time to live) for davesgarde.com is 1 hour, and it's been much longer than an hour since I moved it away from lion.

dave

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

He needs no egging on....they dread his phonecalls :)

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

We will surely be in paradise when the lion gets here, as it sounds as though the lion and the lamb will be working together.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Isn't that in March? (comes in like a lion, goes out like a lamb?) something like that.... (chuckle)

Crossville, TN

....and the lamb will lie down with the lion...or vice versa....Jo

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

We have no chat Dave. :(
