I'm clueless!!!
What does 'bump' mean...
Me to, havent got a qlue.
Posting a reply on an old thread brings it up with the more recent discussions. So sometimes someone will just post the word "bump" because the information was helpful, or to remind everyone of something that is in the thread.
Yes but when they do it in minutes after the made a new post in the tread, then it doesnt make sence. Got the same answere from my son. but he couldent even figure it out when its done in this way. some even bump treade right after one and other.
Janett
That's considered poor netiquette because you are being inconsiderate of other peoples' threads when you do that. (There are times when this is proper, but it really is a little like cutting line)
dave
thanks dave got it
Janett
Thanks everyone! I have seen it a couple of times and had no clue!
Sue
There are times it *is* appropriate to "bump" a thread. Let's say you have a plant ID issue that remains a mystery.
A week or two passes after you post your photo and description (maybe longer) and no one has any suggestions. In that case, it's fine to "bump" it up for another try - maybe someone who was out on vacation the first time around will see it and recognize it.
But as Dave mentioned, bumping a thread is viewed like cutting in line at the cafeteria; when done repeatedly for selfish reasons, it may earn the "bumper" a reputation for being pushy and generally ill-mannered :o)
but .....but.....but.......we have to keep bumping the Loves lies Bleeding picture of Dave so all our new folks can get a look-see.
Then there are some real gems put out by Horseshoe!! Jo
True, Jo ;o) I'd make 'em "stickies" but I think Dave would make me take the Love-lies-bleeding one down (*grin*)..he might let 'shoe's stories stay, tho....
Yeah, let's not abuse the Love-lies-bleeding photo. :-) One bump per year. ;-)
dave
chuckle....it sure was a Kodak moment .... and one that will live in infamy.
Where would I find it so I'm not feeling so left out?
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/115582/ this isn't a 'bump' so you can't 'yell' at me... LOL
edit: be sure and scroll down the thread and check out the other pics. :)

When there are questions that are newly circulating around like recently the Homemade Laundry Detergent, I have been known to bump an information thread so it is easy for people to find.
Is this rude too?
sidney
I would absolutly not think of it as rude. But when you follow a tread, as I did with one tread I really wanted to see an answere, so Iooked a couple of times after the YES. TWICE with two hours apart two people had bumped the tread after each other. That made me very disapointed because i was expecting it to be news to the riddle in question. that is as rude as cutting in line at the cafe.
This wasnt an old tread it had started the same day.
Janett
Janet,
I hope that it was just someone new and inexperienced. I was a subscriber for 6 weeks before I figured out just the basics here.
Is the air where you are pretty and crisp?
sidney
Pirl, find what, a 'bump?'
no, she wanted to see the picture mentioned in the posts above her's. Check out the link if u want to see the pictures.
did, just wasn't sure if pirl had an answer...
Wow, I've been hanging out here for over a year and never saw these pictures!! Woooeeey Davey Boyo, what a topper. I have a string of pearls houseplant I can lend you for your next photo op!!
Trish. My deepest sympathy. LOLOL
Ha kooger, thanks for the link! I'd never come across that either, after a good year and a half. :) I like the string of pearls idea for the next one!
(Why did I think Dave was WAY older than that??)
Because he is so wiiiiiiise!
LoL. He looks even younger in some of his photos. :D (Like maybe this one: http://davesgarden.com/pics/dave_1113917987_33.jpg )
Personally Paul, I think he looks quite young in this one ;) hehehe

Dea I wondered if that one would come up. :)
Too bad we don't have a picture of him on a tricycle and grinning with his cap backwards... :)
I still laugh every time we look at this one Peggy :)
Yes Paul, that would be a great snap :) But of course, we are patient is his papparazzi shots ;) He's quite the kodak moment !!
OMG, the 'Love Lies Bleeding" Photo is too funny !!!
