What do you think of this?

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

My husband and I were spending the weekend in Galena ,IL..On the way back from the casino we stoped at Walmart and picked up a few things..here is where you come in..
On the way out my husband asked the clerk if she would get a $2 bill out of the box for the Red Cross Katrina fund and he was going to replace it with 2 singles and a $5 bill...
I thought that was sort of tacky of him to do..
What do you think..

Culpeper, VA(Zone 7a)

Hate to say it, but tacky. Definitely tacky. That extra $2 could have bought some kid at least a carton of milk.

Kernersville, NC(Zone 7a)

I don't think it was tacky, he replaced the $2 plus added $5, so that is extra milk for the kids. My dad collected $2 bills and he was always on the lookout for them. Rachel

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

well he sure has nerve, loves those 2.00 bills don't he?.. tacky sorta but nice to..

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

I don't see anything wrong with what he did. He replaced the $2 and gave $5 more to help the cause. How could that be shorting them?

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

alot of people collect the two dollar bills. i dont think it was tacky. he also gave more after so they got more.

(Zone 5b)

Tacky would have been to ask if he could trade the $2-bill for two singles and not make the additional donation.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Yes, I agree with you, Cheryl_IL! Two singles our a two dollar bill mean the same to the hurricane victims, and they got five extra! Everyone should be happy.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Not a bit tacky, I agree. He gave extra, didn't just make an even exchange.

Gamleby, Sweden(Zone 7a)

Not tacky at all. Forget about the 2 dollar and focus on the important. He gave 5 dollars.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

I don't think it was tacky since he replaced that two dollar bill and then gave a donation to the cause too.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

I don't think it was tacky.

How did you like Galena? Was this your first trip? Your stomping in my neck of the woods now, lol. Next time you're over this way give a holler!

I don't think it would have been tacky if he'd just exchanged the $2 bill with two singles, I mean really, what difference did that make. He evidentally is a kind man to throw in extra.

BTW, we get $2 bills at the farmers' market and I hate them, they are annoying! If I had any right now, I'd send them to him!!! (for equal exchange, of course). LOL

You will want to schedual a return trip before Christmas. The shops in Galena and here in Dubuque on Bluff St are all decked out. And the eagles are around the dam after the river freezes. Are you referring to Shamrock Imports in Dubuque? Love that store, too much ;-). Bet you spent your winnings. Did you ride up the 4th Street Elevator? Worlds shortest and steepest inclined railway, did you know?

Arrgh, if only I had known you were in the area....Dubuque Arboretum....Eagle Point Park.....Jim's Hostas.....my backyard for bbq and sweet corn, lol. Next time, ok??? Are you going to go to the Iowa Roundup by any chance? *jotting down note to self*

I'm glad you had a fun trip, but next time I want to play tour guide!!! Yeah, I'm a bit biased, I love Dubuque and the surrounding area. I was born and raised within 20 miles of where I live right now, and after traveling with DH in the Army, this is where we will always live. Unless I win the lottery, and then I have plans for a few vacation homes.....with a few fantastic gardens of course.

Next time I find a $2 bill I going to save it and trade with your DH!

I've gone to Galena for a weekend during the Fall the past two years. I love it! Hoping to go again this year.
