My Son's Football Team

Any of you that know me know that I live waaaaaay out in the country. My son's school is also waaaaaaaaaaay out in the country. But, by being in the Cincinnati Media Market, the country teams/kids rarely get any "air time" or attention from the media. Next week our country school goes to another local country school to play each other... neither team gets a lot of press, but a local TV channel has a voting booth up to pick the game they highlight for Game of the Week next week. Year after year when the country schools are nominated, they never win! Population is less in the country, so we have less people voting.....

Would ya'll mind taking a minute and voting for the Clermont NE/Western Brown game to be the featured game of the week next week? It's on the right side of the page, towards the bottom.

One of our players was also nominated for Player of the Week for his stellar performance, (288 Yds and 4 TD's) but a kid from the most affluent area of Cincy had 396 yds and 5 TD's so I'm sure he'll win that no matter how many votes there are....I'm not going to ask ya'll to vote on that, because you weren't there, and didn't see what an amazing job he did. :-) But, if you can possibly help our country boys get a little press from the City, it surely would be appreciated!

And I just tested it. I looked it up before I voted again and we had 1300 votes. Then I voted and it went to 1301. I've already voted several times too, so I just wanted to know if it was still counting mine, or only counted the first one. Looks like it's still counting all mine. :)

Do I feel bad? NO!!!

My kids are country kids that play against larger schools, and I know that the population isn't there for the country kids to win a poll like this and gain a bit of recognition. I think it's a dumb way to pick something like this in the first place. Two country schools playing against each other is worthy of this airtime.

Plus, if we've figured out that you can vote more than once, so have the others in the poll. And I think at least two other teams are doing it. It's hard to keep ahead of them. :)

yes, you would think that this would be newsworthy without the "poll" the school we're playing has been having $$ problems, and they are "Pay to Play" meaning the parents have to pay like 600.00 for their student to play football. it's cut down their numbers dramatically, as you can imagine. To me, that itself is a news story... but, I guess that is why I'm not the one picking the stories. :-)

I'm going to keep trying to vote. I'll hook my laptop up to the dial up connection if I have to. I think they may be throwing cookies that make me recognizable. My laptop doesn't have any of their cookies yet. :)

after I read here that you can vote more than once, I started voting some more. those people must have 2-3 folks just staring at the computer and voting. That other team is not letting that lead be less than 10 points!

looks like it takes about a 15 second delay for votes to register. you're right someone else is playing the same game but I bet they don't have the membership we do.
