Wish for a more simplified trade page option....

the only thing that I prefer on "the other site" is the simple trade page.
I wish there was some place here that would give us the option of that type page - where we could just list what we have and what we want (in a single page list format) without having to enter each item individually. I know that is not nearly as comprehensive as the current options but sometimes less is more :)

I agree I like the simpler format, but I found a way that was simpler for me:
In my Perennials category, I made an entry for Hosta. Under the Latin column, I just said “see comments.” I think it's empty right now, but I can add one entry under hosta and list all my varieties.

okay Cheryl - so you are using the see comments section for a space to actually list all your varieties ?

Well...I'm still a dummy. I couldnt figure out how to get to the comments :)

There are a couple easier approaches, although Dave may at some point decide to revamp the trading feature entirely.

First option: Use the "add to tradelist" link within PlantFiles.
Go through PlantFiles, find your plants and click on "add to my tradelist" - a bit tedious, but it has the advantage of ensuring all your items are properly spelled and can be easily found by others using the tradelist search function.

Second option: Create a simplified tradelist

Step 1. Go to your trading page and locate the "seeds" or "plants" category. Click on that link.

Step 2. Click on "add a new item." In the name of the entry, put someting like "My List of Have's"

Step 3. Skip the name fields and use the comments to list out your seeds (or plants) you have for trade or trade/SASE. You can also copy/paste a list you maintain on your own computer or another site.

Step 4. Choose the correct status (available for SASE, etc.)

Repeat these steps for your "wants" and - if need be - for plants, if you wish to keep your seeds and plants separate. (You can also put seeds and plants in one big list, by first creating a new category for a combined list. That can be done through the "Manage Categories" link on your main trading page.

The second option is much easier, but cannot be searched by others. It is useful if you want to link to your trading page from other places, and direct people to it.

I'd personally vote to see a revamping of the tradelist feature, with a very simple list option added. There should also be the ability to search specifically for plants/seeds available for SASE vs. plants/seeds wanted.

I'd like to see it revamped also. You can still leave in the features that the serious folk want but us simple folk would like a simple searchable list.

If GW can do it ...we know Dave can :) :)

I agree. I am one of the simple folk that hasn't figured or have the patience to try and enter my stuff.
