*blush*...aw shucks...ya'll make me giggle just reading your responses! Thank you so much! And by the way, A-HEMMM!! Lisa!! I wonder if it was YOU who may have encouraged Dave to use that story in the Quote of the Day!! (I was surprised he'd devote that much room to the words of a pea-pickin pin-head like me!) Michele, some days a good giggle goes a long way, doesn't it!? (course now, at 3 a.m. you were probably a little loopy already weren't you?) MzM, thanks for your compliment (and the curcuma you sent is doing very well!! THANKS!)

"...am dog tired and sore today...spent most of yesterday tilling other people's gardens for them. On the way home I was tired, dirty, and thirsty so I pulled into a 'quick stop' type of store. Altho I hadn't heard the following words in years they were certainly still carrying some authority. 'Hey buddy! NO SHOES, NO SERVICE! OUT!!' Yep. I usually try to keep some shoes in the truck so went out to get them but alas, nothing! I searched in the back, under tools, in the tool box...nothing. Oh well...headed on home. Two miles later I saw another Quick Stop and decided to pull in there. (After all, it was a 10 mile ride home and I wanted to go the back roads and relax a bit b4 dealing w/chores that were waiting on me.) In the back parking lot I looked and looked in the truck again...in the back, under equipment, then under the seat. Success, sort of. I found the better part of a flip-flop that the dog had decided not to eat all of, but only one. Looking everywhere my head started thinking. Altho my wife probably hasn't ridden in that truck for over 5 yrs I found, in the glove box, something called a Femi-nine Napkin...(Opening it up I saw there weren't really nine of 'em in there, only one.) Voila! With my one half-eaten flipflop on one foot, and my other foot bandaged up in the 'napkin' and secured with a bit of duct tape I went into my best gimp, put on a grimace of pain and walked in the door, grunting a bit every second step. Not only did I make it all the way in this time but purchased my snack, my 'soda', and the counterman even let me slide for 15 cents so I could get a pack of Goody powders for my pain! Ah yes, the perfect ending to a long day. (Soon as I pulled in the driveway you could hear that musical sound of 'Spsshhh...' as I opened my soda!) Ah yes, life is good." - DG Member Horseshoe in the Farm Life Forum on April 20th, 2001.

Is it this one? This is from June 23, though...I saved this Shoeism because I am guaranteed a fit of laughter every time I read it. It's better than asprin in the medicine cabinet, this:

I beat you by 1 minute GW. :-)

Joshua Tree, CA(Zone 8b)

You two were probably posting at the same time! But Dave beat you! And for the record, the DG time does not reflect PST, it was @ Midnight when I posted. But yes I tend to be a night owl. I cant be handling , Boiling hot jars, lids and jam @my kids. I would hurt myself. So I opt ,for when they are all down for the night. I have 2 more batches to go. Tonight another plum, then I am going to try to make some mint jelly. Small jars , that stuff goes a long way. I have some of the sweetest mint, called candymint , it isnt stinky like some mints. Well, Horseshoe Great Story!
