I'm moving to your house.. I'll bring seeds and vines LOL

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Janis, you are too much fun. . .
Come on!
For sure, we would have a blast!

Here is another that I need to ID -

A different Solid White Bloom than the one I posted before.
This one is from 'Large Flowered Mix' From Japan.
This bloom is HUGE - probably 6". I should have measured it,
but you can compare it against the normal size of the chain link fence.

Ron look at this flap in the center!

Another first bloom that I need an ID
Maybe Asuka?

This one came from The Reunion Islands
as 'I. nil'.

If you guys don't recognize, I'll write JJ to see if he might know.
The bloom wasn't opened enough to tell much.

Hope to have a full bloom soon.

Joseph

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Joseph, Your guess is as good as mine LOL It came labeled a "Japanese Imperialis Mix"

I would love to know. Ron says it loks like his Royal Robe.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1699383

I'd love to get a positive ID, but.....

Janis

Mark that vine, Janis, I'd sure like a few of that particular vine's seeds, please? I am a blue flower lover, it's plain to see.

Joseph

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Me too for seeds, Janis!
Can I please!

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

I'll try guys ok? Is there anything I should do? Do I need to get out there early so they shouldn't cross pollinate with the purple ones?
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1699425

They are climbing the same side of the trellis. I'd love to try to keep the seed true, but I have no idea how, but you are both (anyone is) welcome to any I have ot share :)

Janis

Just put a twist tie on the vine near where the known aquamarine blue flower is located, I for one will take the risk of it being un-crosspollinated. How probable is it anyway for crosspollination to occur? Have we had this discussion in a parallel thread?

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Here is another beauty from my PF Seeds,

Hi,...

Dee - The pinkish red mutants that came out of the RR's that I have are similar, but still different than the one you are showing...the basic color is very similar, but the light mutantions that came out of mine have a totally(!) white tube and throat with no color pigment in the tube or throat at all,so although they are similar, they are definitely not exactly the same...The lighter mutant seeds out of mine will still sometimes produce plants that have the full darker blue color, which is notewortyh as many(but not all) lighter mutations if only self-fertilzed will no longer produce darker colors...I don't have many of my 'older' photos scanned into the computer, but mine look much closer to the one that Stacey posted here with the prominent darker pink star very visible and the white throat, but the ones I got had a somewhat larger white throat

http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/84453/

The unusual Koukan that you got definitely looks 'different' from Koukan,it's possible but I've noticed that when the same vine throws a very different looking flower, that the outer edge tends to look the same...are you certain(!) that this is the same exact vine(?)...

The large white one you posted
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1702317

could be anything...there are alot of different whites and white mutants...I haven't sat down as of yet to analyze the Jappy white ones in exact detail, but I do see a stigma and 3 anthers in the throat...looks like two anthers turned into petals...tag that bloom and collect the seeds...look for other blooms starting to go double like that one and tag them...
Regarding the Ipomoea batatas...my view is that anything(!) in the family Convolvulaceae(The Morning Glory Family) is a Morning Glory, most especially any that bloom in the daylight hours,of which Ipomoea batatas certainly fits that description...the types that bloom in the late afternoon and in the dark, are 'MG's' that bloom at night...they are still in the MG Family, even if the hours that they keep, are a bit different than the rest of the Family members schedule(s) for showing their faces...

The bloom you posted here

http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1702344

I'd like to see a sideview showing the sepals...maybe you did get Ipomoea nil from them...I didn't...if they are now dispensing Japanese types, they should say so,as leaf variegation and Japanese looking leaf forms would not be something that would be present in Ipomoea nil as it would occur as a wild collected strain...

Janis,Joseph and others... - I thought that this picture that that Janice posted

http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1696438
looked similar to the robes I posted here

http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1699383

as they are showing much the same coloration pattern, including a very similar type of mid-petal(!) band, but the ones Janice posted are lighter colored...
What's this in the throat
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1699425
thrips(?)...
Janis, keeping them from cross pollinating is 'your cross' to bear,if you really want to...I posted how to cross pollinate in response to Kevins request on this thread

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/533754/
There isn't much I could add to that...try covering a bud that looks like it is going to bloom the night before with a piece of large clear baggie type of plastic and when you can see that the pollen is fluffy and the anthers are very close to the stigma shake the flower,or otherwise insure self-pollination as I described in the thread, and then recover the bloom to protect it from being cross pollinated from any other flowers...tag all pods that you know to be self-pollinated...

Everything is looking invigorating(!)...I really enjoy of the different color variations, regardless of however they may be appearing...

Very strange!
