"March of the Penguins" movie

Has anyone seen this one? Would like to go, but hesitating.....really don't want to see anything sad.
I know that nature isn't all sweet and nice, but Really need a sweet and nice movie to see.

Hi Marcia! I haven't seen it but so far this is what I've heard.

Boring

- NOW, I happen to like documentaries but most of the folks I've talked to didn't realize that's what it was.

My father in law took my son (3 1/2) and he started squirming and talking halfway through. He usually sits there and doesn't move a muscle during a movie.

I think if you aren't expect the penguins to TALK (LOL!) like other people seem to you might like it. Of course again I haven't seen it and shouldn't be posting my opinion! Don't know about the sad part either but I would bet there is some of that - Nat. Geo. sometimes seems to corner the market.

My son is 6 and loves penguins but I am sure he would want to leave early. My mom said someone she knew took her kids and they were bored because it was just a documentary. I'll wait until it comes out on video.

Unfortunately my child is like all others nowdays, he expects excitement and great visual effects. He loves Toy Story, TS2, A Bug's Life and others like that from Pixar but I can't get him to watch Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and some of the others because they look boring to him. Once they are on then he would get interested but visually he's spoiled. Not to mention the video games and tv shows that constantly keep their senses on edge.

Boy isn't that the truth! Someone gave us 'All Dogs go to Heaven 2" and my son won't watch it long enough for them to get out of heaven! LOL!!

March of the Penguins has been getting rave reviews. I love documentaries of this sort. I would not expect young children to be quite so thrilled. However, my son loved penguins when he was in kindergarten (is a sophmore now and penguins are further down on his list ) and would have sat thru it happily I know.

It will be at our theater next Tues thru Thurs and I know in advance it will be sold out all three days. (They've already planned to bring it back in September for another run.) It has been getting HUGE reviews all over the country. The trailer looks great. Even cineplexes are bringing this one in. Usually this kind of movie is reserved for the artsy theaters.

I don't think it will be sad. I've seen a number of similar movies and none of them are sad.

Gwen
