Butterqueen that is gorgeous - I would have fallen for it too!! When was it built?

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Butterqueeen, I see the potential. It looks like DH home place.

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

I love it Rachel!!!!

I would have fallen for it too

didn't do much today, fought with the cable TV and internet, and put little plastic baggies over my Japanese MG buds closed with zip ties. LOL Boy was that fun :)

Thanks Okus :) It was built in 1865 and belonged to the people who owned the general store, which was also here but has long since been torn down. Even though I am poking fun and regularly yell for a hammer because the bathroom door has fallen off AGAIN, I really do love the place.
The house I grew up in was just terrible. Our things were always getting broken or ruined. The ceiling was sagging, the floors were sagging, it was the pits. When I got older, I started hoarding things, everything. I think my 'stuff' was my security because I never really felt that. Now, I have a great husband with a great job and I'm really happy, but I can't let go of all of this stuff. I know it is weighing me down and I would be so relieved, but I just can't let go of it. Almost every room of the house is stacked with boxes, I don't even know what is in most of them. I make a deal with myself to go through one a night, but it is almost like I have a panic attack. If I open it, I have to deal with it and I'm not ready to deal with it I guess. I really don't know what to do, I keep hoping one day I'll wake up and say 'enough is enough' and start dealing with it. Even the other day when I was emptying out the dining room, I moved a lot of it into another room. When I do get a room empty and organized/decorated, I do keep it that way, so I guess I will eventually run out of places to hide stuff. But, we have 10 rooms and so far I have done 2, so I have a ways to go. I did throw away a lot of the 'loose' stuff that I knew I didn't need, but it's those darn boxes that freak me out. Ok, you all know I'm a lunatic now, lol, I better stop rambling. Rachel

Moon Twp, PA(Zone 6a)

Rachel - any way to take all the boxes into one central area like garage or basement? IF you don't see them and go through them, you might decide you don't need any of the stuff in them. The boxes being out of the way could hep you, or let you get complacent, like I did.

I still have boxes I haven't opened, from moves to TX, Germany, NY (DMIL), NY (1st apt), NY (2nd apt - a lot were ruined and discarded when shed roof collasped there), PA (townhouse) and now, PA in my very first home. IF I ever get house looking good, I would like to start going through the boxes. Hmmm let's see: new dishes, pots and pans, brand new cuckoo clocks from Germany, old family photos, more current pictures, darkroom equipment, the negatives that my Mom had, almost new sz 10 clothes that I would love to get down and into, even an oriental table from Korea that I love and would use if had the space cleared and had access to it. Most are things I could appreciate, if had a place for them.

Last move, somehow the binder with kids birth certifs, separation paperwork that DFAS Cleveland wants another copy of and other such impt papers got misplaced. Maybe if I hadn't let it get so bad by trying to do so much... I know that if I can get started on it, do a little every day, it is possible to get out from under. Got to clean and organize the house, get through the stuff I have and the boxes, discarding what no longer want and need, etc. Oh, if only it were as easy as it sounds. Tearing off walls, insulating, drywalling, etc, only complicated it. Am I sure I will be ready to go back to school in January??!! Could I possibly have it done by then? ~ Suzi :)

Hey, NEVER scoff at Feng Shui! Since I started (again) doing some of the small tips a few days ago... y'a know, the tips about closing the sink drains, putting something in the wealth corner, etc...

Well, I have sold my 10 dining room chairs (although no money in hand yet, client is in Calif.), sold a $40 book on Amazon yesterday, and my sis has offered to put up a down payment on a house for me if I can find one where I am willing to live and I can afford house payment and utilities!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Way to go Darius. Now just need to figure out the finances. Don't scoff at anything that works.

Moon Twp, PA(Zone 6a)

Darius - Yay!! Happy for you! Check your finances and search carefully! My Dad always used to say that what you are looking for is looking for you! Best wishes!!! ~ Suzi :)

My quote from DM, is don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Wonder why they said that?

Hey everyone!! Sorry I haven't been around been having computer trouble (well the cable internet not my puter ) and the kids started school today. Somehow in all this I got roped into watching my sisters 8 month old twins while she works. It shouldn't be too bad, I just love those babies to pieces, and my kids can get on and off the bus at her house. $20 bucks a day whether its 20 minutes or 10 hours. All I have to do is basically feed them lunch, play with them, and get them to nap LOL In her house with her big screen TV... yada yada yada. The only drawback is no computer, she is on dial up so I probably won't be on at her house at all. I'm leaving here in the AM when my girls get on the bus, and hope to be home around 5. My sink is shined, my kids clothes are laid out for tomorrow, backpacks ready to go, clothes in the washer and dryer that I"m gonna switch out before I go to bed.

I made lots of progress in my DR today. Cleaned the kids desk, threw away almost a full trash bag of drawn on papers and full coloring books, ran the vacuum (had to empty the thingy dust cup? twice eugh!! LOL Its still got some work but its a hundred times better than it was :)

Darius, WTG, girl!!!! I am keeping you in my prayers, and know that things are gonna fall into place for you. I am so happy for you, I just have a really good feeling.

OH! Anyone that is interested, I have 2 of the FLYLady silicone bracelets, extra ones. They are the ones she gives away when you buy a t shirt, and they are royal purple and say, "I'm FLYing" I'll send them to the first 2 people that want one :) Just let me know. Like I said these are extras, I bought one also so I have the one I wear 24/7.

Well, I hope everyone has a good day Wednesday and I"ll hopefully talk to you all Wed. night:)

Hugs,
Janis
PS Here are my neice and nephew, Jackie and Justin on Aug 7th. They just turned 8 months the 23rd :)

My turn, my turn - I've got the cloud over my head now......I've worked 30 hours in two days - have a bad cold - and haven't slept at all last night (this morning). Woe is me. So - Darius - you can take a break now. LOL.

Darius - can you get your sister's offer in writing? This is the same sister that you had - uh - issues with before? Wish you lots of luck...looks like your clouds moving on maybe.

DH just got up and I'm sitting in his chair - and I asked him if he wanted me to move. He said no - that he'd be okay even though it'd throw off his Feng Shui for the whole day - LOL! He's such a fun gi!

Well - I'm staying home today and maybe, just maybe I'll do a load of laundry - then again maybe not. I keep having to catch my nose before it runs off - if you get my drift.

Suzi - I'm not going to post pics until I have the before and after too - so you'll see them next year maybe.

Later!

M.

I've been following this thread (and the last one), and I just had to pop in and say how absolutely adorable those babies are! (fortunately, no one is here to witness me baby-talking at the computer screen ; ) )

Thanks to all of you who recommended FlyLady--I joined yesterday. Now maybe I can finally get my butt in gear!

Rhonda - WELCOME to this SMALL (seriously messy and lazy ladies!) group!

Remember - baby steps! Don't try to do it all in one day. And - when you fall off the wagon - get right back up and get on again. Something is better than nothing!

You're in Nova Scotia?

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi Rhonda!! Welcome to the group :)

Had a few minutes before I had to leave, the girls have a bit before they get on the bus... and I wanted to say thanks to all about my neice and nephew. They are my darlings. My sis and I are pretty close, I was in the delivery room with her and her Hubby when Kodie Lynn was born in 2001. I was suposed to be there when Brian Jr was born in 2003, but there were complications and he was stillborn at 38 weeks. The twins were taken c-section so I didn't get to go either :( I think I"m gonna enjoy watching them and maybe it will curb my urges for another LOL

I'll post later tonight

Hugs,
Janis

Thanks for the welcomes! : )

Yup, BetsyBug, I'm in Nova Scotia--just outside of Halifax.

I don't know why I was so hesitant to start with FlyLady. I think somewhere inside me I was thinking "but I should be able to do all this stuff on my own by now!" Then it finally dawned on me--I'm not doing it on my own, and I'll never learn if I don't accept the fact that I NEED HELP!

I know I can learn *anything* as long as someone is willing to show me how. So I can learn this, too! Hey, it's not brain-surgery (which reminds me of a story about a brain-surgeon who really could've used FlyLady, but I'll tell it later, or else I may not stop writing! ; )

Thank you all so much for showing me that I'm not alone!

Awwww Woofy...the twins picture has opened up a floodgate of sweet memories. My identical girls were so much fun! Of course it helps if they are "change-of-life" babies and you have a 12 year old daughter and 10 year old son to help out. LOL

Rhonda - you sound so much like me.....I thought the same thing. I should be able to do this without help - but I've done more since starting this thread and having encouragement from all my friends here than I have in years! Also knowing that I'm not the only one in the world who has the same problem has helped. So - I'm so glad you joined!

One thing I'd like to mention about Flylady. You're going to start getting a LOT of e-mails. There is a feature that you can set on your account to get a "digest" once a day. This gives you all the previous day's messages and links to them. I think if I remember right - on the home page of Flylady - go down and on the left there is a table of contents link - and then I think the option is in there some where. In case you don't want all those e-mails everday. I like getting just one.

So - again welcome and have fun!

Marcia
