Idea Help

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Need your ideas for a project. I need to come up with a "gift catalog" for lack of a better term. Has to appeal to a wide range of people and income brackets. There are 2 prize values $500.00 or $1500.00 any ideas?? If you were leafing thru a catalog and could pick out a prize what are some of the things that would make you go wow?? Need to stay as close to that price range as possible.

Are you talking about something like a prize portfolio, something like S&H Greenstamps used to offer, only with more expensive stuff?

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

yep thats the general idea. So far I can think of luggage sets. watch, golf clubs, cutlery for the 500.00
And maybe computers and tool sets for the 1500.00 but

I think your post cut off mid-sentence, old_rose.

What about roundtrip airfare somewhere exotic? Or gift certificates for nice stores? A complete DVD collection of an actor's movies?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

How much would a grandfather clock be? Those are always nice and pack lots of "wow" value. :-)

Jewelry - necklace/earring sets or nice tennis bracelets.

There are some nice home entertainment packages (receiver and surround sound speakers for hooking your DVD player/CD player/tv, etc up to) in either price range.

Nice Calphalon (or another brand of the same ilk) pots and pans or really nice knives.

Mp3 players are really hot right now - an Ipod or a Rio would be good.

Digital camera

ummm... I can't think of anything else. Maybe someone else will have a brainstorm. :-)

This was fun!!

Oh, yeah....Nice cookware would be great. I know if I had points to redeem for something, good cookware would be something I'd want to see. Electronics are always good, especially for younger crowds.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I could spend $1500 at a nice nursery... LOL

I belong to several online survey panels. One, Harris Poll, offers various HiPoints Folios of prizes, depending on the number of points the member's amassed. They have the folios broken down into groups first by point value, then by age/interest. I've listed them, with examples from each.

HIpoints Folio (800 points) - $5 Best Buy gift card
HIpoints Folio (1350 points) - Key Ring with Flashlight
HIpoints Magazine Folio (1350 points) - Cooking Light
HIpoint Teen/Young Adult Poster Folio (1350 points)
HIpoints Folio (2000 points)
HIpoint Teen/Young Adult Magazine Folio (2000 points)
HIpoints Folio (2500 points)
HIpoint Teen/Young Adult Folio (2500 points)
HIpoints Folio (3000 points)
HIpoint Teen/Young Adult Folio (3000 points)
HIpoints Folio (4000 points)
HIpoint Teen/Young Adult Folio (4000 points)
HIpoints Folio (5000 points)
HIpoint Teen/Young Adult Folio (5000 points)
HIpoints Folio (6000 points)
HIpoints Folio (7500 points)
HIpoints Folio (8500 points) - Cordless Phone with Extra Handset
HIpoints Folio (10000 points) - Hand-Held TFT LCD Color TV

Their prizes aren't really all that expensive, and some in the higher brackets are less expensive than some in the lower ones, if you look at the cash value of the items.

The organization of the prizes is what I thought you might want to see.

BBQ Grille...(fancy schmancy one)

Patio furniture

Fender Stratocaster guitar...American made. They are coveted the world over, and all but the fanciest ones will fall in your price range (900 to 1500) The Mexican and Korean made ones are much cheaper....get the American if you choose one.

There are professional grade acoustic guitars also that will fall in your price range...Martin, Taylor, Gibson and Larrivee are all respected names, and while the price range is their lower ends...that is what most folks get when purchasing one of their guitars....when upper end prices range in the 3500 to 6500 area....the well made cheaper brothers and sisters are what these companies sell the most of...and they are quite good too. They are solid tone-woods and just don't have the fancy frills that the more expensive ones do.

10 disc CD changer for the trunk of a car

Camcorder

Riding lawnmower

Brookhaven, PA(Zone 7a)

There are many mini type green houses that would fall in that category, a 1500 one could even have bells and whistles.

Omaha Streak gift certificates. Spa getaways, camping gear, even grocery store gift certs (or high end grocery stores like Trader joes, WHole foods)

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Thanks Melody and mysitcwill Those are all great ideas.. maybe I could combine the grill and the omaha steak gift certificates yummmmmmm...

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Camra equipment or year's gift to a gym.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Plasma TV-- not a huge one, but there are some in that price range, and it seems like everyone wants one!

I like the spa getaway or mini vacation ideas, and the nice cookware and knives, and riding lawnmower and barbecue.

Furniture? (Sofa, dining room table/charis-- sound attractive to me now because that's what we need!)

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

5,000 dollars would redo my kitchen. So I would say a kitchen make-over.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I doubt most folks could re-do their kitchen for $5,000.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I think we did ours for around $4500 -- Howie would know for sure. We didn't replace our range or fridge, though.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Yeah, but you REALLY researched, and if you hadn't... just new cabinets would run over $5K.

ilovejesus99 ... that $5,000 would go a long way toward doing my kitchen! I could buy new appliances, etc. Sounds great!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Would do alot in in my tiny kitchen also. thanks 101.

Sandy

Well, leather coats make me drool. Would that work? Can it be that personal?

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Yes 101 personal is good and I feel the same way about leather coats thanks that had not even entered my mind.

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

How about a sewing machine and serger set, or do them separately. A tiller. A retractable awning type patio cover. Small gazebo. (thinking of all the things DD needs).

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Small greenhouse!

Oooooh Darius! I want one!!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Don't we all? LOL

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

What is this for? I'm dying of curiosity here. How do we earn points?! LOL!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Thanks for more input. If the greenhouse gets in the catalog I am going to quit my job and go work for whoever this is for so I can earn point. I wish I had more info I am not even sure if it is a catalog but that is what I am thinking the knowledge is for people much further up the ladder then I am. If I ever find out I will let you know.
