you know the feeling... you just need to share with someone who know's.
This Harlot from a dinky little rooted cutting from Brugie back in March is about to blow me away! I did a rough count and there's over 120 buds. Top, sides, and even underneath. I don't know if this is typical behavior for Harlot but this is one brug that will be reproduced multiple times in the yard next year.
Thanks Brugie.
This is looking up from the ground at the first to color up.

Harlot - biggest flush of the year
Good Golly Ms. Molly!!!
What a display of blooms. Harlot sure has done well for you Blaine. I'm sure Shirley will be happy to see this one is doing so well for you. Excellent job of growing her.

Edit- That last sentence didn't sound very nice....Changed it

WOWZERS!!! My Harlot is from Susie and I put her in the ground this week and she LOVES it. If I get 10% of the blooms you have, I'll be thrilled. Yours is spectacular, oh so pretty. Did you say how she smells??
8ftbed--great brug--i have one too--it has bloom off and on all summer but not with a flush like yours--i just love her dark color--good job
Wowee, Blaine, awesome, and I want to sniff her....Shirley will be PROUD!
As always, I love your pics.
But Harlot, ahhhh, my list is ever growing. The trouble? Yes, I'd like Harlot, but I'd like YOURS! lol
Jackie
OH MY GOODNESS!! Take a look at all of the buds on that baby! Wooooooooo hooooooooo Blaine, you go BOY!!!!! lol...man too! I'm impressed and envious!!!! Blaine she is gorgeous, and I know your yard must be smelling GREAT right now Wow! Shirley if you're reading this, isn't Blaine a GREAT BRUG DAD??!! I would say he did ya proud. :-)))))
I just love the angle you got on that first pic, pretty neat! Harlot ROCKS!
:-) This is what it's all about....Shirley, you make people smile by your kindness :-)
Hugs
((((J))))
Gorgeous and so many buds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geesh, do you wanna swap something this fall, I would love to get Harlot!!
Laurrie
Holy smokes ... beautiful. I need to go out and talk to mine .... I think they forgot what they are suppose to be doing. WTG Blaine!!
Tracey and Susie sure did great with this one!! Great brug.
She is a beauty! I know what you mean about about showing them off. More please!
Thanks all... I'm still kind of dumbfounded it did this. Wouldn't it be wild to be in someplace where it doesn't have to be taken inside or die back to the ground.
kell - are you saying 'Tracey and Susie' created Harlot? That's cool to know. Do you know the parents for Harlot?
Oh Yes Sherry I think I've already gushed about her fragrance. :) She's in competition with Butterfly for favorite sniff. Something about Harlot reminds me of koolaid but it's one of the ones that will perfume the air. I can't imagine what it's going to be like with that many open.
Jackie/Laurie - if you're not in the addy exchange, shoot me a Dmail. You're on my list.
Blaine, that is going to be quite a site, be sure to send us a photo.
Blaine, that is a beautiful sight to see. Oh please, keep us posted with more blooms and a pic of the flush! What a beauty!! I'm pretty sure I read that she is a Rosamond X L'Amour baby!
Yikes, 120 buds! That's phenomenal!!! Beautiful flower too. Congrats on owning that Harlot. :)
It was a Susie seed and Tracey grew it out for her. Rosamond X L'Amour I believe.
Blaine, you have done really well with her. She almost always has great flushes like the one on yours now. I really like this plant. She smells good too. I like a brug that blooms well and this one really fits the bill. The only other one that I know of that blooms so well is Inca Sun. It is a heck of a bloomer too. This is a poor picture, but you can see how well she flushes. Inca Sun is one of Kyle Courtney's hybrids.
Wow I never saw so many flowers on a single plant. What kind of soil do you have? Do you use a special fertilizier?
I got goosebumps Shirley! That Inca Sun probably stops traffic.
What's getting me even more about this Harlot is how short it is but developed a pefect little canopy. Well little - I guess it's at least 4' across about about 3' tall. I felt like I was exaggerating with the rough count but it's really filled in like that.
kathy - were you talking to me or Shirley?
I believe Shirley's Inca Sun is in a big tub.
Harlot was going in a big tub but I was ticked off because my Pink buddleia wasn't breaking bud yet. So one day I just snatched it out, loosened the area and stomped Harlot in. Mulched and everytime I fertilize the potted brugs I hit her and the others inground as well. 2gal a trip about twice a week. Most of the time it's some 15-35-15 from Stein's. Left over beer, a little amonia or ..uh.. urea thrown in the mixing barrel now and then. ;-)

lol!
Wow
so many flowers on it!!!!
Great plant!!!!!
She's terrific, and the name just makes me want to giggle. Guess her offspring ought to be named something like "Shameless" and "Hussy". LOL
Mary
LOL Mary!!!!!
Wowser, Blaine. You've got the magic touch. I purchased Vixen from Mary, but it died shortly thereafter. Don't know what happened to her.
Shirley, outstanding , and that is a great name. I don't think I've ever heard of her before, but I am sure a fan of her now.
Blaine, thank you for thinking of me for Harlot...that is so kind! Maybe I'll have something you would like too, I sure hope so.
You're photos are making me think that Bud and I need to spend a little more time together, uh, planning, yeah, that's it....lol
Jackie, don't forget to dmail me an addy. I'm lazy and not looking in the exchange. Besides, when I send something out, I usually send you a pic just before I seal the box so You know what's coming. And... come on over. I'm thinking of having an impromptu planning workshop this afternoon except I have a guest speaker - Miller Lite longs. He's already cost me $$ on a quick run to the nursery for potting soil to pot up some rooted cuttings. Said I might as well grab a couple of those alocasias that were on clearance.
Mary - I really need one called Hussy! I got my eye on a couple of seedlings I'm growing out and even if they turn out to be look alikes, if one of them gives me wild perfume and blousy, barfly frosty pink lipstick color, we may have a winner. (even if it never gets released I'll have to keep it as one of my first seedlings) :)
LOLOL Love this thread, it's sooo entertaining :)
Lol, Blaine, I 'd be right over, believe me, but like you said, I hate to drive through Chicago. I even have my bubble-gum lipstick on too, oh wait, you were talking about the flower.....lol
I am shameless when it comes to picking up plants, now pay attention, I said plants.
I know Miller Lite longs, he has shared alot of wisdom with me in the past, and probably cost me too much $$ too. The great thing is that he doesn't get jealous when Bud is here, as long as I give him equal time in the long run. It's the dh I have to worry about. lol
I'll dm you. Thanks!!
lololol!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it the Miller Lite Longs that make such beautiful brugs?
That Harlot is a beauty. Will love to see Hussy !! Shameless sounds like another good one!! LOL How about Midnight Tramp?
ROFLMBO!!!!!!!!!!
Tracey loves those names. She is always picked good ones.
Blaine, you may know this with all your talk of ammonia. I bought some steer manure in bags, a known brand. When I opened one, it reeks of ammonia. Will that burn my plants? I was afraid it was not old enough. Had too much pee mixed in??
UMMMM I would think so Kell LOLOLOL! ROFL
I know I am new here....but if I really suck up and beg...could I even be considered for a piece of that Harlot.......I am a sucker for bad girls and love the name...but the image is even better..astonishing blooms....just so nice! Floozy would also be a nice name for off spring.....I so want to learn how to breed my own...you guys have too much fun.
What a gorgeous sight Blaine! She looks so healthy and strong!
Oh Lord help me!!
This thread is going down a path of fire and brimstone and I'm feeling right at home!!!
You don't know me but I'd do it with the names and now we gotta keep track:
Hussy
Floozy
Shameless
Midnight Tramp
I love it! Brugaddict, you better hope your seedlings don't all give me a different look. :)
That first one (that's getting ready for 2nd bloom) might be the Midnight Tramp. The little skank won't open up till after midnight! Serious!! I have pics and had circles under the eyes to prove it!!
Kell, I can quote you all the recs I've read. What would the Blainer do? If it has a strong ammonia smell, I'd dump a bunch in a trashcan or tub and fill 'er with water. Let it soak a a day or two and water with it then keep filling up and watering. OR - dare the authorities. Pick a sacrificial lamb (why I always keep a few scrubs around. You need your test crash dummies) and plant it however you intended to use it in the first place.
Let us know.
LOLOLOL @Blaine, Skank!!!!! AND I love that name! I love it!
May I add a name to your list?? lol I kinda like Flossy! Meaning is the same down south LOLOL!
Flossy!!!! I love it!!!!
