Wedding plans!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I started this thread to keep you updated on my daughter's spring wedding plans so as to take from my friend Jo's prayer thread.
Wish us luck as we plan my first of 5 weddings! This is last of my 5 that I thought would be getting married first!

The wedding dress shopping was fruitless yesterday. She tried on a couple of nice ones, wow, they're expensive! We will go next week and try to find the perfect one for her.

I appreciate the prayers and thoughts for Elizabeth and Joe as they begin on this most important journey of their lives.
We're meeting the new in laws tomorrow...Elizabeth says we'll love them!
Thanks so much guys.
Oh, and continue your prayers that Elizabeth continues to do well, please.

I'll keep praying the Elizabeth has the strength to put her problems behind her and embrace her promising new life! Enjoy this time but watch the stresses that wedding planning can cause -- keep it light and fun -- and don't sweat the small stuff!!!
Love,
Lynne

We met Joe's parents for the first time yesterday and I think we're going to have a very nice relationship for years to come. Thanks all!

Thanks to everyone who got Elizabeth through a hard time, I know you all had something to do with that...we will concentrate now only on making her special day, very special...why do wedding gowns cost so darned much?!?!?!?!?

Your daughter is beautiful and the gown looks wonderful on her.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Thank you Judy, I'm very proud of her, she's been through tough times earlier this year, let's hope it's all behind us. Bless Joe for getting her through it.

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Did I understand correctly that you have 5 daughters? If you do I'm going to say prayers for you nightly!!! lol lol

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

No Judy, I have 4 daughter's and 1 son, but please do say prayers for me nightly anyway!
LOL!

(Zone 9a)

I have one daughter and no sons. My daughter is getting married in June 2006, so I will watch your thread for ideas. I can't imagine preparing four more weddings. You'll be qualified to become a wedding planner by the time they are all married. The gown is elegant and your daughter beautiful.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Well thank you fireant, I don't charge much to be a wedding planner! If you need help, I'm here, there is so much to be done, we're looking at reception sites on Wednesday, I can't beleive the price they're asking for receptions...we got one today for 11,000. Yikes... That's only 180 guests! Hopefully the four other daughters won't be planning weddings for a few years! My son will probably take care of his own, that's how he is.

(Zone 9a)

$11,000! Yikes! Times Four! It sounds as if it will be a spectacular wedding. Ours will be simple.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

No, no, no! We're not paying 11,000, that was a quote and I said "I don't think so!" Thankfully our daughter and his fiance will help and hopefully his family.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I read the subject as 'weeding'!! LOL. The gardening mind, you see! On second look, it was not so, it was something more important. It made me grin anyway.

I wish the couple the very best of everything.

Dinu

LOL, dinu! Weeding, wedding, that's where I'm at!
That is too funny!

Hi Louise,

Just saw this thread and wanted to congratulate you and your DD on the upcoming marriage.

After meeting you at the round up in San Diego, I was surprised to hear that you have that many children and that they are old enough to be married. lol

Yesterday was my only DD's 8th wedding anniversary, so you can see that I went through that whole wedding planing myself. It is amazing at how much they charge for weddings now a days!!!

We only had one big scare with the whole planning part, and that was with her dress. We ordered her dress 6 months ahead of time and when it came in, it was too long. It had to be remade, as the hem was a scalloped edging and couldn't just be taken up. We only got it a week or two before the wedding.!!!!! Yikes

Good luck to you my friend,
Donna

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Hey, thanks Donna, so if I need help, I can call you??!?!?!?! I cannot beleive how much there is to do. We're looking for a reception hall, do you know of any places down around the beach that aren't too spensive? She wants to get married overlooking the ocean, was gonna be a Catholic wedding, but too much to do for that, so now we're looking for a site overlooking the ocean and a reception hall there too. Let me know.
Louise

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Louise,

My DD also wanted a wedding near the ocean and we did find something suitable on the bay. The place is now closed unfortunately, but it was nice then.

I used to work for a catering company, during the wedding time, and he did the catering for me. I just sent an email to him and asked him for some information on sites for you. If anyone knows, he will. I will let you know when he contacts me back, ok?

I'm out the door for the day....

Hugs,
Donna

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Oh, thanks Donna, that was so nice of you. Yeah, I can't see spending 11.000 on a reception, that's highway robbery. My DH owns a restaurant but if he caters, how can he enjoy his daughter's wedding day? We might have to figure something out with him, I hope not, it's his day too.
Thanks again,
Louise

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Louise,

I finally got a response from my old boss, and all it asked was "strictly Orange County?" So, is there a special area your looking into or anywhere along the coast?

Donna

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Hi Donna,
Looks like the reception will be in Lake Forest, which is definitely OC..let me know what she says and I sure appreciate you're doing this for me.
Love,Louise

Louise, you've got D mail.
