Question about Tree Peonies

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

I posted this under the peony fourm and have not received any replies....thought I might try it here.

I am interested in purchasing some tree peonies that will survive in zone 5 and would like to get some advice on the ones listed in the J&P fall inspirations catalog.

Shima-Nishiki
Justugetsunshiki
High Noon
Hatsugarasu
Shintouen

They look beautiful in the catalog...any advice????? Those that live in zone 5 or colder....what height do your tree peonies get?

Thanks for any help you might give me.

I have three of them.
Shima-Nishiki, High Noon & Hatsugarasu
Got them (and many others) from Van Bourgondien which doesn't rate well in the watchdog, but i've received many nice peonies from the wholesale end. The price is right and you don't have to have a wholesale license, just an order over $50. They are all doing wonderful. I don't think they've reached max size yet, so couldn't help you there.
Hope that helps some... Melissa

Thanks for your help. I ordered four tree peonies from J&P
Shima-Nishiki
Jutsugetsunishiki
Hatsugarasu
High Noon

I was concerned about what size the trees would be as I understand it takes them several years to bloom. So I contacted customer service and they indicated all are shipped as 3 year old plants.

hiya...I've three tree peonies, which are just gorgeous, so I'm always interested in new
places to find more...here is a site that has lots of good info and some nice varieties-
www.treepeony.com/treePeonyCare.html--do you have the J&P site?
thanx...dd

I live in Alabama and am wondering if tree peonies will grow here. I purchased a collection of five plants and all have died already except one. It gets very hot and humid here so that might be the reason why. Will they grow in the South
does anyone know?
