I have to go on a diet cause I put all my pants in the dryer

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Dang, I was in such a hurry to get everything done that I tossed my 100% cotton pants and tops in the dryer along with the other clothes. Now I've been so good all summer long to let them line dry. When they came out from the dryer immediately I could tell I'll never fit in them unless I lose weight in a hurry. What to do , what to do

WALK to K-Mart and Walmart to buy some pants that will fit for a week or two while you lose the weight needed to fit into your good, (newly re-sized), clothes again. Then thow out every fattening thing in the house. Then WALK to the grocery store and buy only *good for you* things to eat. Take all the stuff that's hanging on the treadmill and excercise bike off of them, and dust the equipment off.

Keep this up for a week or so, then go to the good stores and buy new clothes that fit.

That's what I would do anyhoo. LOL

JoanJ,

Girl you gave me a plan!!

Anybody remember those metal pants stretcher things they used to use? They were an expandable metal frame that you slid down the legs, and the pants would dry with a crease as if they had been ironed. This was BD of course (before dryers). That would help put a little extra room in those drawers....however, I'm all for retail therapy, buy some cheapies and then go get some really hot ones!!!

Judy, I've been wondering for years why I keep outgrowing my pants, now I know, it's that darned dryer! Which means I'm still really a size 10. Thanks.

Man, you walk anywhere in Florida, and you'll lose that weight in no time!

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL you could do what my mother use to do, she had this thing a majig that she stuck in side the waste of her pants, and cranked it up and it stretched the pants, LOL I have no idea where she got it, but man , I think we all need that thingy.

You could diet with me, I've lost l6 pounds now. I've been cheating here lately, and it's killing me to get back on the band wagon. I've got a major sweet tooth.

Oh Judy I hear you! I just started exercising again this week b/c the dryer seems to be shrinking everything I own! I am so sore right now...

That's what I get for not exercising for almost 5 months though!

Dieting? Exercising? I thought we weren't allowed to use bad language on DG. I'm going to go get a bar of soap......

I thought I read the title of this thread as:
I have to go on a diet cause I put all my plants in the dryer!

So, I was really curious if the PLANTS were really overwatered or what the problem was.

I'd buy a few cheap pair and then you have to decide if it's diet or nicer pants. Can you bribe yourself? I do it all the time and it works for me. There's always the last 5 or 10 pounds but it's better than saying only 50 pounds to go!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Ha ha! Pirl! You are a plantaholic!!! :)

I never look at it as 50 lbs to go. And that is how many I had to lose at the start. I always look at it as 10 lbs at a time, it's not overwhelming that way. The 50 is always in the back of my mind, but the 10 is in the front of my mind, and I get to celebrate little victories on the way to my big victory!

I bribe myself too, but probably not how you do Pirl!! I let myself have a little treat every now and then. That way I won't give in and eat a whole bag of chips or cookies. If I allow myself one night a week to have a small treat...something really special....I look forward to it. Sometimes I even forego the treat if I've had a great week! I believe you can't deprive yourself completely forever, or for extended periods. 6 days isn't too long! :) Of course, I don't keep the stuff in the house!! Part of the treat is going out to get it!

And, like JoanJ said, you can WALK to get it....LOL

I have mini-goals, too, Heathrjoy. In the forums at http://3fatchicks.com we refer to "reaching a new decade" when a person's down to, say, 229...She left the 230's decade behind. When someone goes from 300-something to 290-something, she's in "TWOterville" and she goes from 200+ to 190-something, she reaches "ONEderland". Isn't that fun?

I'm at 212 now, down from 277. So, my next decade will be when I hit 209, then I'll hit ONEderland. Next mini-goal after that is my driver's license weight, which I'm afraid I've not seen since college days: 190. ;) I've also lost a good 20" of hair since I had that license photo taken!

Twenty inches of hair ought to be good for a couple of pounds, no? I lost five this week with a flu bug....trying to catch it again. Ten more times and I'll be down to fighting weight.

While I don't like to be sick ... I'd consider it I suppose ... if I could lose the weight I just put on while I was on vacation. Oh my gosh ... I didn't put on weight! I dried my clothes!! Thanks Judy for pointing that out! Hmmmm, wonder what's wrong with my scales? Maybe I need new ones. *grin*

Those pants stretchers are available from Dr. Leonards, Helen Carter, and Carol Wright for about $10 a pair I think. I use to use them on Jack's jeans all the time to put a nice crease in the legs.

All those wanting to lose weight or doing it already are welcome to join us on Healthy Living forum. We have a weekly weight loss challange thread that is started nearly every Saturday morning. Sometimes it is late getting started, but folks just keep posting on the one already going.

I must confess ... I do lurk there occasionally *hiding face* and I keep saying to myself "self ... you really ought to post, you know ... It helps to have others who know what you are struggling with" ... But I just keep lurking and never posting. I might just surprise you one day.

Did you know the more you dry pants, the smaller they get.... So then you have to give up and buy new ones, only this time it seems logical to go up in size, at least one, cause you might forget and dry them again.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

So I'm not crazy....not pants but two camp style blouses that I bought last summer, have gotten smaller after being washed and dried a number of times. Of course, they were made in some foreign sweat shop, and are not all cotton....I thought it was my imagination. Certainly my TOP is not getting larger...........

Hmmmm, I only wish! It's not my top I'm worried about! LOL

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Me neither! LOL!!

Just found this thread. Mebbee by now you've lost a bit of weight? (No?) Well if not, have you tried washing the pants and putting them on while wet? Might stretch them out a bit.

We could all go on a diet together. Start another thread? Think of the plants we could buy with what we don't pay to Weight Watchers. LOL

In my case it's usually DH who puts the pants in the dryer, but the ones I usually buy don't shrink much and if I wash them again and hang them they are usually OK.

How is it going Judy? Have you lost enough weight to get into the pants or did youwalk to the store nd buy some?

Ann, we do have a weight loss group going, it is in the healthy lifestyles forum, here is the thread for this week:
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/544229/

come join us in the loosers club....the more the merrier.

cheers

I've already signed up on the weight-loss group. I'll earn myself half a hosta per week for each week that I lose weight. That's close to what it would cost me to go back to Weight Watchers. ;-)
