You win! Definitely that didn't happen to me - it was bad enough getting in trouble after you had done whatever. And I was a great kid.
I can see you now walking home with chicken poop down your back. :-)
(been around a few chickens myself).
Just took this photo of Zora. She's on the cooling mat along with my glasses. Once I take them off I don't know they are.
Went out and checked my succulents again three times today. I'm trying to figure the best way to find out if the tree is getting what it needs. Right not I've got one of those water meters but it only goes down about 6". I guess when it says that things are dry I can root water the maple. Now I'll have to put the food in the root feeder too. We'll have to see how succulents like protek. I'll try it on a few of them first. It's supposed to help cell walls not dissolve so that the tree doesn't get leaf burn. Maybe I'll try it on one that is getting leaf burn and see what happens.
Succulents/cactus to grow in the ground - Zone 9B?
The only thing that kept me in line was fear. I'm glad my parents took a very stern position with me. I don't know what would have happened if they hadn't. If there's a hard way to do something, I sure find it! LOL
You know, those chickens were pretty good. I don't remember them ever getting chicken poop on us! I'm sure that was just coincidental, however.
Boy, Zora is another AWWWWW!!!! Cavaliers are sooooo cute you just want to eat them up!
I don't know anything about trees. Can you just use Jobe's tree spikes for fertilizer?
I'm on my way to bed. It's going to be a miserable night. I've had a sore throat and runny nose for a couple of days, and this afternoon it turned into a full-blown cold. I've taken throat lozenges and cold pills and nothing's changing for the better. Now I'm going to take some Nyquil and see if that helps me get some sleep. Arrgghhh!! I hate getting sick!!
I hate being sick too! Isn't that a strange thing to have in common? (LOL)
I can use jobes tree spikes but the fertilizer will seep out into the succulents. With a root feeder the fertilizer is put down by the roots and there is less chance of the succulents being over fertilized. This is going to be tricky. But the tree is the important partner in this group.
And Zora is more of an AWWWWW than you know. She wants to be in your lap, on your chest, hugging you or laying on her back in your arms as much as possible. The kids all carry her around like a baby. And she loves it.
Have you noticed that fall has just dropped on us like a rock? It's cold out there!
Miserable cold!!! But I slept better than I thought I would thanks to Nyquil and the cold pills. I think I'm a little better today, but I'm far from well.
The dogs have been all over me this a.m. because they know I'm not well. Sometimes I wish they weren't quite so attentive! I know what you mean about Zora. Angel is the same way with me - she just wants my attention and to be where I am.
It's cold where you are? Not so here last night and today, but night before last was cold. I think fall has been here all summer! LOL
doss, if you are interested in getting more succulents, you should go to the los altos plant swap on oct 1st. there's a table just for succulents & cacti that is normally overflowing with cuttings and plants since they grow so easily. ok, i admit, there's a lot of common ones like jade plant and aloe vera but there's other stuff too. :) it's also an informal place to ask questions and meet gardeners in the area.
Thanks so much for the head's up. Now that is a very popular day. The Daylily club is meeting that day, I'm throwing a party for my husband's 60th birthday for 50 people. Needless to say... How do I find out about it for next year?
It sounds like a really fun thing.
Thanks to everyone. Here are the succulents all in their little bed. I've ordered some more echevarias to go in a similar bed opposite it. They've done really well in the wet winter but it's been very mild so I haven't had to use the floater covers yet. I did use them in the summer to get the plants acclimated to the sun though. It worked very well.
