Hey Kell, WE didn't kill it! LOL

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

are you on a roll today or what? woo-hooo!
Maybe I'll show you my ears this evening. I was seriously scanning the curbs this morning on the way in hoping someone would be tossing a kiddie pool. Had I found one, I was going to put this pot of ears smack in the middle of it. Otherwise it's more like bungi-ears UP down UP down UP down...

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL I was trying to figure the best way to move all this. My neighbor is going to lend me his trailer. I think I will line it with baby pools, dig all day one day then go bright and early to the other house and plant it all. Now....I just need the ^)(&$#)*# banker to call and say I am getting the terms I want. Pretty rude of him to leave me hanging all day. It took about 3 hours to get pre-approved. If we don't like the terms, we still plan to move in the spring. I want to make sure the plants have time to settle in before it gets cold.

I just did a redo on the butterfly garden too. I still need to get new edging and put a path in but hope I am not here for that. LOL

Looks just like my Alocasia odora. Macrorrhiza has
upright leaves. Odora is a giant. A gardening mag shows a
man watering an odora, it towers over him. 10 foot tall in a pot.
(a HUGE pot) lol

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Kell, it was so not nice to throw that zone thing in!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Chele. You are moving anyway, so come on to California. Where the living is easy!! Your girls already look like California girls!! You would be in plant heaven.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I know what things cost out there! I wouldn't be able to afford the utilities, forget the housing. LOL I'm also looking to trade my 1/4 acre lot for over 7 acres. I bet the only place to find 7 acres out there, is IN the ocean!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

lol!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh shucks Chele, I was hoping to get you to come out to live.

No fool are you, Chele. Yes, prices are ridiculous. Housing is outrageous. Land is nonexistent. That all being said, it is a beautiful place to live. And warm too. LOL

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Yeah, except for the expensive real estate thing, you'd have to reduce your land by oh say 7 acres down to the .28 I think it was! But kell and I manage, somehow. Although my husband keeps saying, "More pots, you can't possibly need more pots!".
I got a few at Navalet's too Kell, a Nancy's Revenge that I repoted and is finally taking off, waiting for it to get big enough to get it's streak.
I also have this varigated one below, again, can't find the tag but one leaf burnt and now a new one is emerging.
OH, isn't this the tropical forum?!! LOL Sorry, it's Chele's fault, she started with the ear pics and now we are off and running. I am looking for a source of Lutea cause of that one posted, love the yellow stems. Keep getting sidetracked though with all the google links I am getting.

And guess what? My nancy is getting it's streak in zone 6! neener neener neener ! Ahem. ;) Oh, mine went from about 6" to about 3' in about 2 months. I have it growing in water.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Phhhtttttt!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL LOL

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Oh man, I just had to bookmark this one http://toptropicals.com/
Kell, I am feeling sorry for myself with my little plot of dirt and pots, feeling a need for a little nursery shopping cheer up, heading to Navalet's and maybe the pot place, wanna check that other one you mentioned.
I'm nuts, still have over a dozen 4" pots from my last shopping trip. Sad.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh shoot, now I want to go too, Sue!! Report back. I want a Nancy's revenge, too. I have to make a show at work fast. I am leaving at 3 to get into the city before rush hour for sushi!. So I must go in now for lunch with the girls, then 1 1/2 hours of work. LOL. What a life.

See you all later. Post more pics!!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

I should be working too, you should see my desk! No maybe you shouldn't. Oh and I need to get rid of the grey hair growing out so I don't look like the grandma I am! LOL So little time, so MANY plants!
Adios, drive careful, I'll let you know what they have.

Is there any way to put it in a pot that holds water and won't dry out so quick? Maybe you could empty a cup of ice in it every time you think about it.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

man Kell, I have their website bookmarked too, just looking at it yesterday. We are going to have to start a new thread in the Tropical forum so you can share what you got and what I got today. Chele can follow us over. Be back later to post pics and discuss this buying frenzy obsession thing. Oh and I have a abutilon pic to show you, but you may have it already this one, it's got big open blooms, it's bright and it's PINK!

Mmmm, gingers, blue gingers, varigated gingers.......

Back later.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Just got back. Had the best time. Will go look at your take. I am so happy today is Friday. A weekend of fun to go!!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Chele, your place looks great!!! We've hit a milestone here, my 14 year grand girl, is one inch taller than I am, she is 5'9", we wear the same sized shoe. Just yesterday, she was a tiny baby, time is spinning outta control. I know you enjoy your girls Chele, take in every second, I cannot believe mine grew up so quickly, and now the grands are doing the same thing...

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Thank you all...Just when I was thinking that I have too many plants and don't know where to plant them...I read this post & realize...I have NO problem, compared to my gardening friends!

Whew...now I feel OK...maybe I just need somemore large containers, and, and, and.....

Really, I am not into tropicals (yet)...but all of yours look really great!!!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

doesn't cannas, nanners and brugs count as tropical?
This is 'Cleopatra', a new canna for me this year.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Beautiful Blaine, what a gorgeous picture of that Canna, Great job!!! I'm drooling *sigh*

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

8ft...You are right ! I guess brugs do count as tropicals!

BTW...Your canna photo is just beautiful !!! I guess I didn't know what I was missing, until now!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

From Chele's above post "I can trade you coiffure for tropicals.... :)"
So what is a coiffure??? LOL Chele. I am thinking hair. If its blonde, it is a deal. LOL Which tropical do you want?

Gosh Blaine, what don't you grow? LOL. I need better lessons on packing it in.

Margie, spoken like a true innocent. I wasn't either and then I was taken to tropical land against my will. LOL

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Me too, I even used to say that tropical plants didn't do anything for me. Don't know where it started changing, maybe the trip to Hawaii, a trip to San Diego and I found myself wanting that lush look, the feel of being somewhere in the Caribbean or Hawaii. I have always loved foliage things, varigated especially and with tropicals, that is so easy to do, don't even need blooms, just the various sizes of leaves. BIG leaves, love them!
I used to not like yellow, orange and green either, now I seek these out for my hot tropical look. Always changing, keeps it exciting.

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Well I don't have an Gunnera! Now thats BIG! Been on my hit list, I just haven't seen it locally and it never made it in the mailorder shopping carts. But when happy and grown well.... Holy Cow.

The Tropicanna has the wildest foliage. They've been out several years now and I still saw a single rhizome for 19.95 in a mailorder cat this spring. I converted my buddy across the street into things besides grass and he fell in love with cannas. Doesn't like a lot of yard work but has no problem lifting and storing cannas. (smirk) I'll post a pic of his little canna forest this afternoon from what he's picked up from me. Good thing too. I inadvertently gave all my tropicanas and bengals away this spring.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)
