Hey Kell, WE didn't kill it! LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Remember the big white I was going to toss? I took your advice, totally hacked the root ball and put it in a bigger pot with new dirt. You said if it died, you knew nothing but you get all the credit since it survived. LOL She's very tall and thin, but she is blooming!

Since you had to look, how about some ears? This is a brand new bed I put in when I levelled the yard and put in sod.

A couple of my brugs.

Why the long skinny pic? I cropped out all the toys on the lawn. LOL

LOL Chele, looking so good! And your bed of ears is just great. I do not know where you get all your energy. I love that look.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Turn off the sprinklers! We are falling over! LOL

Hey, the brugs are happy though!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You bettter start digging it! Great pics. Your yard is a tropical paradise. You really get it going for your zone. I am so impressed.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Brugs, ears, castors and weeds! What more can you ask for?

I heard you might like ears now Kell. :)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ummm, Kell, there really is a pond in there! LOL It is ten feet across and three feet deep! Did you get any upright ears yet?

Thank you Vossner!

See the rocks on the right? That is the perimeter. LOL All the stuff in the middle is floating.

Oh my gosh. It is beautiful and big. LOL. I would fall in if I were there, from not being able to see it!! What plants you have!! Yes, I am fast buying them but I have no room to grow them so I am not sure if that is such a smart thing to do! LOL. I still don't differentiate between the different kinds. LOL Just for you I just went out in the dark and cold and took this picture for you. I HAVE A FLOWER on it!!

Badseed,

Beautiful white blooms.

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

I liiiiiiiike it!
I'm tellin' you... something about Bud Light enhances the garden.
DW saying "shouldn't you stop watering? your bill is going to be so high." "Nawww, still got 5 or 6 buds in the garage fridge and need to defrost so I better finish them off first. Don't want to waste the electricity it took to get them frosty cold"

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

In the cold AND dark? Man, I must rate. It looks like a violet or red stem. Those are nice in that they grow more upright and narrow, leaving room to plant under and around. :) It looks like it fits in there really nice!

Somewhere someone posted a pic of one with leaves that grow straight up in the air like an arrow and you said you liked it. I think I left a tease that I had some but didn't hear from you. LOL

Maybe you should start buying these instead. It IS the right color, yes?

Thanks Judy!

ROTFLOL Blaine! I would never ever support alcohol abuse! I mean seriously, you have to do something while moving the sprinklers or holding the hose!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You always rate with me, Chele!!

Oh Chele, I love that daylily so much!!! LOL PINK!!

Shoot, I missed your offer, I always miss the good stuff. You know my razor sharp brain got dull all the way. LOL. I can never remember where I have been, to go back again except on this forum. Now I must go search the tropical forum!

I am not sure which that one is but I love it so much. It is huge and so elegant. I have it in a big pot.

So maybe it is a red stem. Though they are black. Look at my flower!

Edited to say maybe those stems are deep red. LOL. I need to go look again!

LOLOL Chele & Blaine!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

There is also a black stem. :) Did you buy a Colocasia fontanesii? http://www.elephantearsplants.com/elephantearsblackstem.htm

Good morning Gabby!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Good morning to you too Chele! lol

I, too, love EE's, you have a beautiful display of flower's and I love the combo too. I didn't see not one weed either! How do you do it and maintain your garden so well with all the babies???? Hope they are doing well. Post some more pics of them...k?

School started here Wednesday!!! lol

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ha! If you didn't see any weeds, you did not look close enough. LOL It is a camera trick. I just grow plants with BIG leaves so you don't notice the little creeping booger weeds. :)

The kids are doing great! All of them are getting TOO big and TOO mouthy! Even the baby yells 'bad, bad!' at me if she doesn't like what I say.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You are so smart Chele!! I had to go back to the day I bought it and I found the tag. I could have just asked you ! LOL Thankfully I had tagged the day with the nursery name. I love that site you linked to. That Colocasia fallax is sure cute.

Thanks for bringing such cheer to our forum today! A great start on a beautiful weekend.

LOL Score one for the blonde! Gee, I have brought joy and good cheer and have barely finished my morning coffee. :) Some days I lurk and other days I can be downright obnoxious. I am waiting for a phone call then I might just turn pretty annoying. hahahaha

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOLOL never, not ever can I imagine you being obnoxious LOLOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ask the loan originator at the bank. hehehehe

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL ahhhhhh now I'm gettin' the drift. I was thinking about that house I last saw in one of your threads and the babies all walking in formation with daddy, it was the cutest thing I've ever seen lol! Glad they are doing well.

Hey Chele, go easy on the man at the bank lol, turn on that southern charm and he'll be right on with ya

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL! Two weeks later, sick of banks, sick of reators, etc, still living in limbo and I have not killed anyone yet. :)

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Hey Kell, I too am still trying to figure out the different names, I have quite a few already, thanks to Chele, and a few I bought, all in pots right now. But unless I get a nice tree cover fast, I don't think mine would ever look like Chele's jungle! They have that humidity thing going for them there. I am too afraid to put them in the sun so far, only morning sun here and they are looking nice. A few got burnt leaves from the last heat wave.
This one is my biggest leafed one so far, bought it in a 1 gal, (had name on it, now can't find it) and repotted in a 5 gal and the thing has exploded into tons more leaves. This one will definately have to go in the ground, somewhere.

I think you have a Xanthosoma there. :) It looks nice and happy. My yard is 99.9% full sun. Of course I am only in zone 6. LOL There are spots that get partial shade for parts of the day but it's mostly ALL sun.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Ha, could be Chele! I have another one potted up marked Xanth from you and I just went and compared them and they do look alike. That one too is growing my leaps and bounds and I think also need aeither a bigger pot or in the ground.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Put it in the ground and watch it hit 6' or more! It's easier to keep them watered too. I'll have a bunch more to share with you when things cool off. :) Don't guess you wanna come help me move all the plants and plan them hem beds?? LOL Usually the give away with the Xans are the way there are almost two little leaves at the stem. Colocasia and Alocasia are attached to the stem differently. Seriously, if you are wanting to go more tropical, you need BIG leaves and if you put them in the ground in your climate, you are gonna have BIG!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Oh I will plant them in ground, thats for sure! I am waiting for hubby to do a big pruning along the back fence before resuming planting because he will just be dropping big branches left and right, can't have anything crushed, I would be devastated!

Wish I could come and help, what a job ahead of you, I can't even imagine.
In 4 years, hubby (Brad) retires and we will most likely head north where his family is, (BC Canada, Zone 8) because thats where my daughter and SIL and grandkids are planning to go. Brad promised me a greenhouse and maybe a sunroom, I want to keep my tropicals, brugs, ears etc. I am stressing over it already and it's years away.
Would love to get more of those ear babys when you are ready, last years did so well. I had placed a few in a shaded peat moss bin for holding for a while and then potted them, a couple didn't look like they would come back after the winter but as soon as things warmed up, they did. In fact, I must have missed a couple little ones because I have ears sprouting out of the peat bins, now have to go match them up with the names.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL I dumped pots next to the deck into beds in the spring. Some of the more picky ears had been potted and I dumped them, check for soft spots, etc and replanted the firm parts. I have a variety of small ears popping up all in that bed. It's really fun to plant the runners 3-4" deep in a pot and forget about them. All of the sudden you have a whole forest of them. :)

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Really impressive, Chele...! Limbo is terrible to deal with...hope it is all settled soon!!! Love your big EEs...

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks Carol! A couple of those ears *might* be yours. :)

I think I am getting a killer wedgie from having each foot on a different side of the fence. LOL

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Wedgie! LOL! And now off to the garden to water with that lovely visual in my mind.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I imagine you could have worse things on your mond. :)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Chele!!

I was going to say Sue, they may have the humidity but we have the zone. Our tropical bed can stay in the ground all year long!! I may dig out all my brugs from my brug garden and plant a tropical one. Oh my, it that blasphemy or what. LOL

Sue you are off to a great start!! I got some from Navlets.

I love your Cheles, your yard looks so good. Just in time to move.
Good luck on the loan!
