Oh what a night!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Not sure if I should continue going out with my girlfriends after this one.

Someone stole my purse. I'm lucky and got a ride home, but no key to my house!

Not even sure where Russ is.

I was asleep on my tropical front porch and a police officer woke me up. To give me my purse, all cash gone, but my keys and id intact. Wouldn't be talking to you otherwise.

Bless his heart, and the others that went out looking for my purse. I didn't think they'd find it. I think I should start showing some more faith in them. He certainly didn't have to bring it back to me at that hour, 3:00, but I'm glad he did and that I was able to get back into the house!

:-}

*grin* I was startled to be woken up by a police officer, but I owe him more than a case of donuts, and the woman that looked for my purse - she gets diamonds or something!

Karrie- glad the purse got returned. It is a helples feeling to have it happen. Mine was stolen in Chicago on a shopping trip. I spent 2 hrs cancelling crredit cards etc. My purse was left on a bus and given to a security guard (long wonderful story), it was returned to me with all my cards/checkbook in tact. Money gone... However since I had already cancelled all credit cards, I still was unable to shop!! Was a hard lesson for me to learn - I am a real trusting person.

thank you. I can appreciate what you are saying. Helpless - yes, that is how it feels like.

I too understand how you felt. Lost my purse many years ago on a Christmas shopping trip in K.C. Sears store. Fortunately we have no credit cards, I could remember the last check number so the bank was called immediately and the account canceled and all my cash was in my bra and shoes. That saved the day. I had a spare car key around my neck on a strap or in a pocket so we could drive home. I got a call promising the return of my purse but it never showed up. I did have to get all new legal stuff tho. I'm glad to hear you got your purse back.

Thank God you got it back but also because it didnt happen in the middle of January. IM lucky enough(knock on wood) that it hasnt happend to me so far. On my trips to NYC I take a book back with me instead of my purse, all cash goes into the front pocket of my too tight jeans and my wallet goes into the very back of the bag under a couple of other things so if anyone tries to take it I hope I can feel them rooting around or feel an unusual tug before they get thier hands on it. Sometimes I still feel lucky that I wasnt a chosen cash provider to someone I dont know.

If you see that officer again make sure he gets a Thank You from me for being the kind of officer we all hope to meet.

Karrie, I'm really glad you got your purse back. I've had my purse stolen twice and it's such an awful feeling. I would really advise you to have the locks changed on your house though. Whoever stole your purse could have made impressions of your keys in less than a minute. It may be a hassle and an expense you don't need, but better to be safe than sorry.

big hugs!

Had my wallet stolen out of my purse in the mall quite a few years ago. I leaned over a table to fill out a drawing for a free set of encyclopedias. Kids were young and sure would have like to won that set. :) Instead, while I was filling the card out, a teenager next to me (I later remembered him standing there), apparently bent down as if to pick something up and took the wallet out of my gaping open purse. I went to the mall office and reported it shortly afterwards. They called me 2 hours later, someone had found my wallet in a potted tree. Money was gone but everything else was intact, thankfully! Ladies, zip up those purses!!

There is a very strange message on the answering machine that I'm going to follow up on.

Be careful and call the cops if in question - better safe then sorry! We dont even let freecycle people come here for things I always take them to a spot somewhere in the middle!
