What are "Sea Monkeys" really?

Modi'in, Israel

I remember them from when I was a kid. And my brother in law brought a box back from the States for the kids. I have to say, as an adult, it kind of grosses me out not knowing what they really are. Anyone out there know?

They are tiny brine shrimp.

They make excellent food for aquarium fish.

Thanks Mobi! I thought about going to their web site but I really figured they'd keep it a "dark secret" rather than say right out what they are. LOL

Many years ago I asked the same question and kind of got interested in how it worked. When I was a kid I thought that the just looked like dirt in water. I still think they are kind of icky.

I think they're kind of icky too....well, as house pets anyway LOL. And I certainly hope they don't succeed for 2 years like the web site states! Ack! If my daughter wants a pet in her room, I'll get her a bowl of goldfish! LOL

Hey not even "sea monkeys" grow in the Dead Sea. Guess it's aptly named then ;-). The only body of water in the world where you never have to think of fish or leeches or snakes or anything else biting your toes in the water as you swim :-)
