Movie Rentals Online

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

Hubby and I are thinking about signing up for online movie rentals, the ones where you can have several movies at one time and when you send one back you get another. Any advice...reccommendations, etc...on what company to use and if they truely have a good selection...and how long it takes to receive your movies.

I have Netflix and love it! Super-quick turnaround. We always have one "kid" movie because my son just has to watch his movies over and over. I love that you can keep them as long as you want.

Hi, I joined Netflix for about 9 months and watched every movie I'd been wanting to see. I know my mail carrier got tired of those little blue envelopes lol. Truly, so did I, I burned out on it. Now I just rent one on Pay Per View if I get bored. Paula (my sis) has the Blockbuster thing and they really enjoy it. She has kids though and I think that makes the difference.

Netflix did have a great selection and one nice thing about it is if you see a movie ad you like, you can go over and add it to a watch list type of thing and they let you know when it is available on dvd. I really liked that feature.

DH and I are very happy with NetFlix. They've got a wide range of movies, and they ship them out quickly and make it easy for you to mail them back after you watch them. We've only had a couple of small mixups in over three years of service (one time we got the wrong movie, another time the DVD was damaged -- and both times the problems were corrected asap). I love unusual films and really appreciate being able to find films that the local video/DVD places don't carry. Also, the NetFlix website is easy to navigate and has lots of cool features. It's much more fun to find movies from their website than to go to most shops, especially those chains where they play the sound up way too high.

If you have a taste for films that are out-of-the-ordinary (foreign films, documentaries, indies, etc), and if movies are a strong interest of yours, I'd highly recommend NetFlix over a walk-in video/DVD shop. On the other hand, if you enjoy mainstream Hollywood movies and are a casual or infrequent movie watcher, a local shop might be the better and less expensive choice.

Thanks for your replies...We are now set up with Netflix.

Yay, good choice! I just found this thread, and I would have also recommended Netflix. Another thing that is impressive to me is the customer service online-- something that seems like it would be hard to achieve. I've found answers to all my questions there, and solutions to any problems. You can also buy previously viewed movies now! It's easy to switch plans, too, so if you watch more movies in the winter, you can switch to a plan where you get more at a time. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
