You know you're too tired when you put the fabric softener sheet in the washing machine and the liquid detergent in the dryer....
So tell me what you've done so I won't feel so stupid!! Meanwhile I'm going to go take a nap!!!
Judy
You know you're too tired when........
Put milk in the cuboard instead of the refrigerator.
You forget to scratch those new red bug bites you got 'cause you were too tired to remember to spray with Off before going out in the yard this morning!
Hubby used hand soap in the dishwasher instead of dish soap. Oh boy, bubbles everywhere just like on TV! Took every towel in the house to clean it up but the floor got really clean!
Then ...
Lord Have Mercy!! We just had the most gosh awful storm roll through here. When it started, I ran out in the rain, snatched up my wonderful Brug, Creamsickle brought her onto the porch and repotted her in a big ole pot I had just bought. I was determined she was not going to hit the ground again. About the time I finished, the thunder and lightening were something to behold.
The rains were so heavy within minutes we had a flash flood, the electricity went off and didn't come back on for 3 hours. The water was risin’ and I was the only one here. DH was gone to the big city. Actually I’m small so I don’t have much muscle power, but I knew the ditches around the house had to be dug a little deeper, at least in places, or the water was gonna come in the back door. I ran into the house, found DH’s bottle of blended sippin whiskey, put a shot in a glass and filled it the rest of the way with water. I gulped it down and ran back outside with a hoe, there is no way I can use a shovel. I would just have to rake them down. I scrapped off as much as I could and the water started gushing down hill. Meanwhile, the lightening was popping all around but I figured if I was gonna mean My Maker he would understand.
Exhausted I pulled my wet clothes and shoes off at the back door, went upstairs, lit candles and crawled into bed. Two hours later, DH arrived home and called out from downstairs. He hadn’t been in the storm but had seen my clothes, brugs outside that had been laid down, lots of standing water, realized there was no electricity and figured we must have had a bad storm.
Huggin’ me up tight he said he was sorry he wasn’t here to help me.
I'm going to bed now....
I got up in the middle of the night to take care of the puppy, holding it in one arm as I fixed it's food with the other hand. Got a large container of food out of the fridge, put some in a small bowl, then in the microwave to heat and returned the puppy to fridge,,,
I knew I was suppose to put something back in the fridge (food).. actually caught myself reaching out to set the pup on a shelf.
Judy, and the puppy wonders what kind of family he's in.LOL I have put the dish cloth in the refrigerator before, all time doing silly stuff, and the sad part about it is, I'm not tired, at least all the time.!!
Judy - better the fridge than the wave!!
tgif, very funny. LOL
whenever mom couldn't find her purse, we'd check the fridge!
(And it was always there.)
She once put a bottle of soda in the freezer to get it cold fast.
she forgot. Until it exploded - popped open the freezer door.
Mom's a brilliant woman too! We all can do dumb stuff.
( And I don't recall ever doing anything similar of course ;-) At
least there's some advantages to losing your mind during
mid-life!)
Tam
Maybe you got it in your mind he was a chili dog. *giggle snort*
Your storm story sure painted a picture -- I can't imagine! No wonder you crawled into bed early. Things drying out for you at all today?
I put bleach in the fabric softener dispenser once. Thank goodness I realized before I ran that load. It's a front-loader, so not a bunch of water to swish around with the bleach. I'd have had polka dotted clothes at best...Don't want to think about the worst. ;)
I think it's called Dutch Courage when you have to be fortified with alchol in order to commit an act... I'm here to tell you it was nasty weather to be clearing a ditch and I surely needed a little courage, but that stuff was 'nasty' tasting. All the rain and storms we've had washed debris down into the ditch, so it had to be cleared.
We're much better today, out high was 87, so I repotted plants, etc. This is a picture of the plant I rushed out to save which lead to me notice the drainage problem.
Looks like you did a good "Save"...
This is Brugmansia Creamsickle. Brugs are so much TROUBLE and about the time you decide to put them all in the compost pile, one like this blooms and makes your heart sing.
Yep. That's how I feel about the 3 that I have.
That's how I feel about the 3 I have too.....they may not see next year.....
I think the one above bloomed because she thought she was going to die soon in my care.. lol lol The storms Dennis produced slammed her to the ground 2 times, she had leaf damage from another storm, she got spider mites. I removed most of her leaves then she started forming buds, go figure. She was in a much smaller pot until yesterday. Only the Brugs in the 3 gallon pots have bloomed for me, the ones in 25 gallon pots are just growing tall and bushy.
I'm off to bed. I get up at 4:30 or so.
Judy
When you wipe under your arm with the toilet paper.....
I gave up on brugs a few years ago. I tried unsuccessfully for about 4 years and never got one to bloom so I just quit. Same with tropical hibiscus. I don't think we will have even a dozen house plants this year. I have a big pot of Peace Lily that truely needs another home. I just don't want to mess with it anymore tho it blooms nicely if I take care of it.
I don't think I could have dealt with that storm that well, Judy. It sounds so terrible.
One doesn't need to be overly tired to do things like that. Just have fibromyalgia. What some of you have done is part of 'fibro fog'. I do dumb things all the time and have learned to laugh at myself for them. I get lost going to town, church, work, home, etc. all the time. Just for a few seconds or until I see a familiar landmark, but it can be scary when it happens.
GOD bless and keep each of you.
It's simple - my hands are just a lot faster than my eyes/brain can follow. I thought I was the only one who put the dishcloth in the freezer. And I always wonder what was supposed to go in there and what did I do with IT.
I'm the classic case of getting to the car without the purse I had in my hand coming out the door. The cuppa coffee to go is always on the roof of my car. My reading glasses turn up on the four o'clocks and the carry around handset is out back on the lounge chair.
Your storm story was marvel - ous. Good for you, I too have cleared a ditch for flash flood waters that were headed for the house. and those lovely blossoms are a terrific reward.
I've gotten a little more sleep lately therefore I'm not sooooooooo tired.
Blooms I kept forgetting my purse, therefore I just quit using one. I'm sure the same would be true of a cell phone. lol lol
You know you're old when....baseball players and football players are 25 years younger than you!
They used to be old men!
How about your doctor! That was the eye-opener for me, when my
doctor was younger than me.
Oh, yeah, that too! It seems these days, everybody's younger than me. I'll be 50 in a few weeks! Oh, well, when you figure the alternative..........
Hey Guys.. we're suppose to be talking about TOO TIRED, NOT TOO Old. There is a difference!!!
I promise this 58 year old can work circles around anyone younger, but after many long days of 24.x7 taking care of puppies or those that the Good Lord saw fit to send my way, I'm to tired for words.
Hugs,
Judy
PS Have you ever answered the phone in the middle of the night to a little voice that said "Help". Well I have ... The Good Lord expects us to do our best, sometime we make a difference, sometime we don't.

Oh, yeah, tired too! It appears that here at Dave's, we really make a difference. I'm just glad to just let people know that I'm here, like you Judy.
You know you're old when....you remember gas being 25 cents a gallon!!!
I know I'm getting tired when I come home from work on a nice summer evening, and just want to sit at the computer rather than running around the yard in my work clothes without even going in the house first.
When summer first begins, I come home, put my car in the garage, and then immediately start watering, weeding etc. My purse sits on the sidewalk.
When I start to get tired, I go in the house first, put my purse on the table, change into garden clothes, and sit down at the computer and never leave.
I just realized how strange it is that when I'm not tired I garden evenings in my work clothes, but when I start to get tired, I sit at the computer in my garden clothes? I think I need therapy.
What do you mean? This IS my therapy!!
Joan - you are not alone! I get so mad at myself. I end up getting my work clothes dirty & sweaty.
But the garden just fills us with energy and after a long day at work, sometimes you just can't
wait to change or you'll not get the infusion soon enough!
Tam
I'm Taking a break from working in the garden. I have struggled with health issues that cause me extreme fatigue, but I promise that there is something about working outside that gives me this lift of energy and I can be out there for hours and hours on end. I don't care if I get dirt, sweaty or all of the above.
I took a yoga class where an instructor said that a certain bent over position we were in was very good for the thyroid and giving a person energy. It is a bend over position I am often in in my garden and I'm not surprised our maker gave us this energy when we work in the garden :)
Have a blessed day in your garden :))
Sending you all energy since I've been working in mine :))
Judy, WOW!! I've been there and can feel your story!! I've laid sod in a downpour.
Susan
you know you are very tired when you are standing outside bath room door and cant remember whether you are going in or coming out ?
ROTFL - now that's tired tazzy!
Tazzy,
My needs are so urgent, I know if I've been or not!!!
Hugs,
Judy
I am mostly brain dead of late.
when you come in late from working outside, lie down "just for a minute", & next thing you know the sun is coming up & your still in your gardening clothes - lol!!!!
Amen!!!
Yes Tazzy, bathroom in the morning on the weekend. Half way back to bed, wait a minute, I got up cause I was thirsty. Then a dog wants out. While you're downstairs turn on puter and check DG. Take a nap later. Frank
when you come home from babysitting 8 month old twins a 4 YO and a 3 yo, start making dinner (baked steak in the crockpot all day) mac and cheese and corn. Cut up cheese, put in microwave, pour noodles in boiling water, start pan for the corn, take it out of the freezer and pour the corn in with the macaroni noodles. I spent the next 30 minutes picking corn out of the macaroni noodles (how fun is that??? LOL)
Janis
Janis,
Bless Your Heart, that's tired!!!
Judy
Oh boy, I might just have left that corn in there! A 3, and a 4 year old, and eight month twins..........That's a work load for any one! Hope you don't have to do that often, you won't have enough energy left to get on DG.
