Howie's livin' extra large

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Just had to post this, for I'm so proud of my honey. Here's Howie, wearing the first XL shirt he's bought in his adult life. At his largest, he wore a 5X top and size 66x30 pants. Let that sink in, because...Now he can wear some XL shirts, and just bought a pair of 42x32 jeans.

No, his legs didn't miraculously lengthen, but his wife did finally convince him the 30's really weren't long enough! ;)

His weight-loss blog is http://thehman.com and there's a link there with his "before" and "during" shots (we're still losing).

Well done.... hard work pays!!

There was a new tailor in our area. So he wanted some customers. My friend wanted to get a pair of trousers stitched by him as a trial. Cloth was given and measurements were taken. The stitched material was delivered on time [much to the surprise!]. While delivering it, the tailor asked him to return in case of any complaints [alteration]. There was no trial room there. So, the customer returned to the tailor the next day saying that the trousers were loose. The tailor asked where exactly the trouble was. The customer said "Near the armpits"! Imagine!!

It was just a joke that was triggered by the description of Howie's 'shorts'.

I think I've seen some men wear such pants, as well as some who should. Observe...

Hi, Kim & Howie-- Looks awfully good! You guys are really getting results and are role models for the two of us! We are losing, but not as spectacularly as you two!

Howie--like your blog site. Really great design and discussion...

Take care. Judy

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Thanks all. It feels good to be making such progress.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh Howie! You look amazing! I just jumped over and looked at the progress pics and it's just stunning. I hope that your back works out okay. That sucks. The extra weight probably took it's toll over time. I'm sure once you get things fixed that being lighter will keep things from getting that bad again. Don't lose sight of your goals! You will get there, look how great you've done so far!!!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

It that the man or what. Great goings Howie. We are so proud of you and for you. Lose another waist size and you can send me those 42's.

LOL Dinu I was really into that story thinking it was for real. Made my day.

Looks to me like you're winning!! Way to go, I've been watching your progress - both of you - from afar. Like everyone says, you are an inspiration. I think I'm finally turning the corner myself.

Howie, I think you could stand to go with a slightly smaller size shirt even!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

wow howie! this is wonderful-keep up the good work!!!

whats the trick?? i cant lose a pound!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

No trick just hard work. We count calories 1800 a day for me and 1500 for Kimberley. Then we follow the American Heart guidelines. Thanks for all the great comments. Makes me fell really good.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Wow! You are almost there! Congratulations both of you. I've been following the progress too, and I agree, you aren't losing, you're winning!

P.S. I'm a little jealous too, but you both are inspiring me enough to want to get off my butt and do something about it.

Howie and Kim, You are both such an inspiration to some of us who keep slipping off the diet wagon. This shows it CAN be done by eating properly like you have been doing. Congratulations, Doris

LUPY? Can this be my adopted child who has returned from someplace, to post????

This week, Howie's team at work won the weight loss challenge they had there. He got $25 and got himself an OSU football jersey with his prize money. It's an XL, too. Go, Howie! Woot-woot-woot!
