I hope this works.
Here's a link to the Lagrange Daily News and a write up on the team. He was the winning pitcher.

I didn't want to post the id's in the first post.
He is the one with his glove down at his hip and the only one that his face is showing good.

(Zone 5b)

That's so exciting! I can't wait to find out what happens on Wednesday!

Oh congratulations! I know you're proud of him. Please keep us informed.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

If his team wins Wednesday they will have to play agian on Thursday. I think the paper misstated that. The team they play tomorrow hasn't been beaten and we have lost one game. He will pitch again on Thursday if they make it that far.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Just got news that his team won today 2-1. Wow a close game and the last inning the other team loaded the bases with only one out but they turned a double play to win the game.
Mike will be pitching tomorrow. They were going to play at 4 p.m. but they moved the game to 10 am. He usually is still in bed at that time. I will be leaving about 5 in the morning. One of my other son's and his wife are going with me.
I am so excited. Wish us luck.

(Zone 5b)

HORAAY! Congratulations again! Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks Cheryl.

Wishing good luck for the game! *crossing fingers* Know you're excited. Let us know how it goes.

congratulations Jim.

(Zone 5b)

waiting for more good news

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well the news isn't good. Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I knew we were in for a long day when in the first inning the shortstop made an error on the first batter and then the next batter hit a fly ball to center and he dropped it. In all the team made 8 errors, very uncommon for them, and they just looked as if they were in a game that didn't count. Mike and his team lost 8-0. I am very proud of him however, normally he pitched good enough to win.

Thanks again for your caring. I am depressed and will be for a while. Of course I wanted him to win bad. There will be plenty of games left for him to excel in.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Well, shoot. Things happen sometimes, and one bad game doesn't a bad team make. You know that. Chin-up, grampa!

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I feel better now that I got to talk to him and he isn't disappointed. He knows you don't win them all. A good lesson in life.

Another thing that I found out was the motel they were staying in also was the motel a 13-14 year old girl softball team was using for a tournament they were in. About 1 o'clock during the night some one knocked on their room door, waking all of them up, and it was one of the girls that he had been talking to the previous night. She said she just wanted to give him a good luck hug. Now that is a fast girl. lol She probably will be married at an early age.

Well, I know it was a bit of a disappointment, but sometimes it's easier for the kids than we think. It's a tribute to his raising how well he has accepted losing. There's a lot to be said for the old saying ... "It's not if you win or lose, but how you play the game!" You ought to be very proud of him!

(Zone 5b)

Well congratulations still! They still did great!

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

Jim,

Please send my congratulations to your grandson!

Oh Jim, I missed the picture in the paper.. Sorry he lost, but glad he's okay with it.. Knowing that girls are chasing you down in the middle of the night might be a moral boost for him. :)
