If you get a, Question from eBay Member ! email...beware!

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Today I got what I thought was a legitimate email from an ebay member thru ebay. I sell from time to time but I mostly buy so when I looked at the it said,
"Dear ebay member,

Hey are you going to buy the item from the auction you've won, why don't you answer my emails, if you don't Respond Now I will contact ebay safeharbor and I will report you ! I am not a fool !"

It listed an auction number & supposedly the day of sale was May 19th. I when I looked up the auction number on ebays site, the listing showed the same seller name as the email along with the corresponding number but the date sold was July 6. It was for a book I clearly didnot even bid on. I forwarded the email to ebay & they've quickly responded that its a "phishing" aka spoof aka spammed email attempting to trick the person on clicking on the links. I just wanted to alert those of you who might not already know about this.

I get "phishing" emails almost daily. I always forward them to spoof@ebay.com or spoof@paypal.com.

Strange...I received one yesterday that basically said I had been removed from bidding on a particular item (gave item #) for violation. When I clicked on the link..it took me to the Ebay member sign in page that asks for user name and password. I immediately closed it.
Rachael...thanks for that link...it will be forwarded.

If you hover over the links in such e-mails, you will probably notice that the targets for them are not what appears in the e-mail. It's easy to make a link appear to be one thing while linking to something else. Hover your mouse pointer over e-mail addresses in your e-mails (without clicking them) and look in your e-mail program's status bar down on the bottom. Make sure the link points to where it appears to.
