Oh Happy Day...

You're right. Gardeners are generous. To keep something alive for years is a sign of a good gardener. Congrats on still having that plant.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Shirley she is just as beautiful as Punkin. Another winner

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Shirley - she is so beautiful I am drooling on my shirt staring at that last photo - holy COW what a color! Help me understand the process for a new stunning brug like this. Will you name her now? Does she have to be trialed longer by just yourself or others as well? Is she a first year seedling?

Inquiring, unknowing minds want to know... :-)

Diane Krny

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Everyone.

Diane, she is a second year seedling and a first year bloomer. I won't name her yet. I will grow her another year before giving her a permanent name with Monika's permission. I doubt that she will be cut up for trialing this year. I would like to keep her top on for more blooms to start out next year. No brug has to be trialed by others. That is a choice that each individual grower/hybridizer makes. Hope I answered your questions.

Elaine.....very carefully. LOL! No, I have a familyroom with a ten foot ceiling. That helps a lot.

Thanks Dixie. I'm glad you like her.

Looks like you've got yourself another beauty Shirley and Monica...Good for you!

The funny thing is that within the last hour I saw my first Sdlg in bloom and have written down a temporary name...and what is it but HAPPY DAY !!! That was before I saw your posts! Now I see the name may already be taken! Not that I know if mine will be registerable anyway! I guess I could always call her...HAPPY DAY TOO !!!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Do we have any new photos??

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sorry Deb. Those blooms only last so long and her time ran out a couple of days ago. I've had company since Sat. and we didn't spend much time outside either. The heat was too much. We got about a half inch of rain Sat. night and that was quite welcome. The wind that came with it tossed a few brugs around, but surprisingly, they lost very few leaves.

Thanks to all of you. I'm hoping she will have a big flush of blooms next time around. However, right now, most of my brugs are just sitting there...most having tiny buds that aren't growing. I think it is just too hot.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Got the old computer going and now I can say congratulations to you and Monika.
It's a beautiful flower. I love the tendrils and color.
We'll have to introduce it to Northern Peaks Shirley. Imagine the tendrils we could get. I'll have to look and see if I have any pollen from NP to send you if you'd like some.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks. That would be cool.

Sure glad you are back online. I wouldn't be able to go without my computer.

Shirley,

That sure is a nice shade of red/orange.

The name that came to my mind, instantly, was "Lolipopp". Slurpppp.......

Gita

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Gita. I believe there is already a brug with the name Lolipop, but a good sugestion. I'm a long way from giving her a permanent name yet.

This is truly gorgeous with the color and those extremely long tendrils. I love this one and I am so happy that you are having seedlings bloom. Another beauty that Monika created......wow.
