Oh my gosh!!!! I love this one!! Just WOW! Congratulations! This is just too beautiful! Really gives Rothkirch a run for its money! Hope its stronger than RK, and roots easier. WOW!
Are you going to see how it does across the country S?? Now I will go have a talk with mine.. I will chop up some of my other/older ones, and plant the seedlings up into bigger pots.
Thank you so much for sharing this joy with us! Im just tickled!!
Oh Happy Day...
Congrats Shirley and Monika, she is lovely !!!!! :-) I believe I saw the sister of this one on another thread but the tendrils weren't as long and pronounced as well as the color either. I believe this one is a keeper Shirley! I love her !

Lovely!
Great color Shirley! Congratulations for this nice seedling and a big Thank you and hug to you for the all the work you have to grow out the seeds.
Ahem, *bump, nudge* Monika...you can shoot some seeds my way if ya wanna lol...I would LOVE to help you out by growing them too!!! lol You've made a beautiful cross Monika :-) And Shirley has done a great job tending and growing, and nurturing her :-)

Julie
Absolutely gorgeous Shirley! You sure know how to cross them Monika, another success. I do believe this is going to be a very, very pink summer.
Bravo to both of you!
Here Here!!! I second that emotion!
Hugs
Julie
Brugie I had to come back and look again, that has to be the most beautiful one I have seen, and with such long tendrils.
Doris
To Monika, I hope you didn't take my post seriously. Scooterbug emailed me and she seems to think that people always ask for your seeds and that those who do are are keeping you from posting here at DG anymore. (or less frequently) I just wanted you to know I was only kidding. I know it takes alot to get them over here.
Hugs
Julie
Brugie, you've done an awesome job! And Monika you rock!
Thanks everyone. It wouldn't happen without Monika. I'm going out to water now. It's still only 88 degrees, but so humid it almost takes your breath away. Maybe the humidity is making her turn so dark. Now we wait and see how she takes this heat....hopefully for at least four days. Julie, you are right....it does take a lot to get them here. Not only the Import permit, but the phyto and all the time it takes for Monika to make and wait on the crosses to mature and then the time it takes for her to have the seed inspected and the expense of mailing is big too. For me....the worst part is waiting......and waiting.....and waiting.............it seems. The inspection station gets several calls from me. They probably know my voice by now.
Thanks for all of your nice comments. Monika and I appreciate you going through the growing pains with us.
:-) hugs Shirley (Brugie)
Hi Brugie and fans!
Monica is gorgeous! Hopefully I'll have one with color one day, but I'll settle for my yellow one.
I moved "Harriet" under the patio, she has been in the intense Az sun and heat, got a bit nervous yesterday as our Monsoon winds were kicking up and she started swaying. She's getting lots of buds, so I'm getting excited again. Pray for some rain in AZ!
Enjoy all of your pictures and comments. It helps when it's to hot to be outside in the afternoon. I'm posting a picture of Harriet in the shade, hope I didn't goof up by moving her.........
Joni
Gosh Joni, you have grass....I thought most people in Arizona had gravel yards. LOL! It's more green than mine is right now. Bet we aren't as hot though. I think that Harriett will be just fine under there for a while. Do you have any trees that she could sit under when the Monsoon season is over? She probably will need more light than it looks is available to her under the patio. Looking forward to seeing her in bloom.
S.
Shirley, those are gorgeous!
Oh Shirley, congratulations!!! I've been at work for what feels like 2 weeks straight! LOL I've been craving DG so I thought I would sign on and see what was going on! You surprised me! What a beauty that you and Monika have! Please....show more pics soon! Nice job you two!
LOL Joni! "Harriet" wonderful name!!
Just think Julie... all these genes are here in the US now, Im sure it wont be long before there are plently of seeds to grow out from our own crosses with Monika's brug's genes.
oh palie WOWOWOWOW lovely!!
just plain gorgeous!!.....next year I want to get a "ForeverMore" or whoever you spellz it.....I have heard its the greatest brug for the bad ole southern heat....
the few of mine that came back on their own from last year, just melt in the heat...its so sad looking and I cant get out to water them everyday unless the helper lady is here....I have two white, from Pete that Im praying will make it, because they are doubles....
I wonder if everyone that has humid heat like in NCar has brugs that look fainted.....
ANYWAYS lovie thats gorgeous....I love it :))

Lexy
Yep, Lexy, I'm in southeast Arky, zone 8a, and some wilt pretty quickly, but some last longer and those are the ones I try to use. Rafaela has a long bloom life here and so does Susanne and this is the first year for both of those to bloom, so I'm betting they do even better next year, I really like both of them...
Sherry mine look so pitiful during most days.....I cant go out by myself a lot, but I get so tempted to try to hobble out....they are all wilted and hanging down and I mean all of mine....I dont know their names anymore...I am the worlds worst about keeping up with my plants names ... if they grow , bloom and live, them they are my FAVS hahahahah regardless of what they are, so names escape me....BUT at times like this, it would be nice to know what they are because they must be in the wrong place in my yard ... BUT Sherry, I went thru a really bad time in the fall, and I didnt care for any of my plants etc and the yard man just cut the brugs down to the ground and we forgot about them.. all that are out there, came back except the two Pete sent to me this year...so they seem to survive but not thrive out there.....
it defeats me most days HAHHAHAHA

Lexy
Maybe this will be the beginning of a wonderful time for you Lexy, and your brugs - you know, they can go through lots and still produce beautiful blossoms - mine were nearly burned up with chemicals and now most are loaded with buds, amazing! My Susanne had a full house flush, four dark pink, lovely blooms, yet completely nude, not a leaf on her...
Been away being a grandmother...first time seeing that beautiful brugmansia....congrats Brugie and Monika...ready for trials out here on the rock!!!
Carol
Brugie I had to come back and look at this....so lovely...
Shirley, I hope so, :)

Lexy
That is beautiful, is it 'Happy Day' - she is a thriller, gets better the further she goes, congrats!!!
Brugie, it is truly beautiful.
Doris
Oh for heavens sake!! Its beautiful!!! Im just tickled for you Shirley! She looks to be holding up pretty well for you even with the heat!
Julie, would you like a piece of Carissa come fall? Its a Monika baby that was grown out by Shirley. I only have 2 real small plants, but I would be more than happy to share with you if you would like. All I ask, if it blooms, you share the pictures LOL. I havent had a great year for brugs blooming here. I can live through you this way!
Oh Brugie WOWOW what a photo!!
lovely, just plain lovely and overwhelming!!

lexy
Julie I have some brugs but I dont know their names...I'll chop you off a piece of any of them if you want some...if you'll tell me how.....
I dont know the colors yet from the ones from last year...I've forgotten HAHAHAHA I do know I'll have 2 white ones if they live tho

lexy
Oh 'Happy Day' is right Shirley!!! That color is vibrant and looks great! And the tendrils....they are lookin' great too!
Thanks. I have to hope that she will continue to bloom like this or better. One flush of blooms doesn't always tell the story. Only time will tell. I'm glad you all like her.
Hot, Hot, Hot!!! Flamenco Dancer!!! Cause she's wild and free.
Judy
Brugie thats a great series of shots tracking the progression of a great flower!
Is she nose friendly?
I keep coming back to look at this last shot of her.
Judy
Shirley, she is gorgeous, I really love her color, shape and form, just beautiful. I hope she does just as well as this one has in the next few flushes...*sigh*
Hi lexy! Good to see you! Thank you so much for offering your cuttings sweetie :-) I think I'll have to pass this time, though but you're so sweet to offer. I babysit my 5.5 month old Grand Daughter daily and I need time anymore to tend the one's I have! lol...
Hugs
Julie
Blaine, you can tell that she is pretty tall. It's hard to get my nose into the flower, but I can smell her when I'm near and it is late enough in the day. I have to say that my trips to the yard are very short these days with all the heat. I'm not a morning person, so I don't get up early, ever......and here it is a little after 9 AM and it's 84 degrees. I'm sick of this heat. Today is supposed to be our hottest day of the year so far...so we will be well into the 90's before it is over. I get things watered. That is about it.
yeah - it hot and sticky here and we'll kiss the 90's with humidity. Running up my water bill this morning but I'm going to keep going past the designated time. Even though we're on lake Michigan water, we're still on water hours this year because the plant can't keep up with demand in the evening so they've limited outside water use from 7:30 to 10:30 am. I can't stand the thought of losing any of the trees or anything else I've spent so much time and money on.
Wow, love the color of it, Shirley and Monika. She's a beauty.
Just beautiful!! Congrats to you both.
Thanks Cindy. Monika has done great work with all of her hybridizations by putting much thought into them before ever making the cross. I'm so happy that she has chosen to share her work with many of us. I shared the double pinks that I got last year with many people so that they could help share them again this year. I hope that this tradition will continue with all of Monika's brugs.
That's really cool Brugie! Seems to me the gardening world has the most generous people involved in it. My first experience was several years back when I stopped to admire the scent of a neighbors flowers and the woman insisted that I take a piece of it which she dug up on the spot. Bowled me right over. It's still alive too.
Mary
