EBAY vendors

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I wished Gardenwatchdog was set up to keep track of ebay vendors. Name, EBAY ID and feedback statistics. That's it. If still interested, DGers could then go to EBAY and continue the research. We wouldn't need to have a feedback section here. That would be repetitive since it's already done on EBAY.

Admin, is this feasible? or is it already in place and I just don't know about it?

Actually, we try to not duplicate eBay. If a vendor is strictly an eBay seller, we generally don't list them in the Watchdog unless the vendor wishes to be listed here. (Since eBay has its own feedback system, most vendors don't want to have to keep up with two websites where feedback is posted, not to mention the double-whammy of a disgruntled customer posting on both sites. Those that do wish to be added to the Watchdog typically are branching out and selling outside of eBay.)

However, are you suggesting we set up up a directory of eBay sellers with a link into eBay's site, rather than allowing people to post their feedback here? Hmmm. Can't speak for Dave, but I think we'd need to see the benefit to the Watchdog to create it, because it would likely also create more administrative and PR work for us, to handle the added questions from eBay and its sellers.

yeah, yeah. I agree no need to post feedback here. My idea was something like

ABC gardenias Ebay ID: GardeniasRUs Feeback: 99.2
Link: ________

If a DGer then decides this is somebody he wants to contact, he goes to EBAY. And for starters, use names as provided by DGers, and expand from that.

It would be handy to have merchants' eBay ID's included, I agree. Of course, they might want potential customers to buy directly from them and not put a big emphasis on their eBay sales. The costs can be high, and the prices lower than what they get from selling directly.

Terry, as a follow up, I'm posting a link to a thread that sort of illustrates what I'm talking about. It begins w/ Clare_CA post on 7/20/05 12:03.
