private messages?

Their not up at the top of my page when I first sign on, I have to go to my page and view my private mail before I can view if I have any private messages. But all the threads I'm watching are up on top, just not my private messages. Is this a new thing? now matter what I do, they won't show themselves on the top page .

Your dave-mail has to be marked as unread in order for a link to show up on your home page. (Once you've clicked on a message, it doesn't continue to show up there unless you mark it as unread.)

Well, Before today, Everytime Isign in, myprivate messages all the ones that have new messages on them, would be at the very top of the page. and when I click on them to read them, then they wouldn't show back up again unless I got another message from that person. This is a brand new thing going on here. I've never in the 2 years being here have had to mark my messages as unread to get them to be up on top of my page just like my threads i'm watching. I don't understand why I have to mark them as unread now.

I just sent you a message. When you click on "home" does it show up as new?

No, I had to go to the my info page and click on view your private messages.

Kathy, on your preferences page http://davesgarden.com/prefs/home.php one of the modules on the right-hand side should be "Personal Mail". It should show up in the same column as your "Thread Watcher".

I think we've got her squared away. It had somehow been dropped from her customized home page ;o)

thank you tutti fruiti, it's showing up there just like in the link you sent me, but I still can't get my messages to come up when I sign in, I still have to go to my info and view my personal messages page to view which emails I have that are new. I can't figure out what 's wrong. I've emailed terry that I haven't got it figured out yet.

Kathy, I just sent you two posts to our first email thread, and a second thread, which you can now open ;o) Are you sure you're going to the "home" tab?

You're welcome, Kathy. I thought it was worth a shot since I had played with customizing my home page a while back. I quickly learned that the left column for the module I was changing had to say something like "Column 1, Position 1" instead of "Column 1, Disabled". ;-)

Terry, Home tab? I did exactly what you told me to do in the private message you sent. what's the home tab?

LOL, I found the home tab. and now I can see my private messages. I feel so stupid. sorry . I'll know better from now on.

Column 1, Position 1 ..... I just didn't touch what I didn't understand. NOW I get it !
