Northern CA Stockton Roundup - Plant Trades

N., CA(Zone 9a)

Arrange your trades here! This thread is for people who plan to attend the Northern CA RU on September 10 at Micke Grove in Stockton.
While most will bring more than what's here, threads like this will help us all decide what to toss in our vehicles before we get on the road. .

For those of you who haven't done this already, just start your own post in this thread and keep up with your items to swap in that one post. You can go back and change your lists of things that you will have to swap and things that others have promised you whenever you make a deal with someone.

If you have any questions, please ask. And if you don't have many plants to trade with, don't worry, many of us have plenty of extras and will be willing to share with you.

For those coming from long and far, seeds and succulents travel well.

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

If you see something that interests you, please email me & tell me what you have to trade.

2 things, I mentioned on the other RU thread that I will be bringing all my extra seeds to share that I don't plan on planting next year.
The other thing is, I am going to be removing my 3 Thunbergia Grandifloras,

edited to say that the Thunbergias have all been spoken for.

i added some more plants:)

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Jumping in here for just a reminder.

Don't forget to put the plants name in the plant or write the name on the outside on the pot, cup or whatever.
If the plant is not in a container, just wrap a piece of tape around it and write on the tape. I did this at the SoCal RU with some Amarylis bulb.

Donna

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

I am looking for some Alstroemeria plants, if anyone has some, please go up to my list and see if I have anything you are looking for.
Thanks
Donna

Merced, CA(Zone 9a)

Donna, how about deep red orange? Will start some...

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

WONDERFUL! Thank you! Can you list your method for starting because hanna has an orange one that she offered if she could find out how. :~)

Merced, CA(Zone 9a)

I just cut off a stem, remove all the leaves but one or two at the top, 'scar' into the joints ever so gently (to expose fresh greenery), dip stem in water then root tone and plant. They say the reason for most failures is the dirt is not packed tight enough. Place it in a cool, out of the sun spot, water regularly and wait for growth to appear. I always, always cut double what I want because my success rate is 50 percent and up, depending on the plant. Other Alstromeria's were successful, so you are bound to have one!

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Anne!

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Thank you LadyAnnne!!!!
Annie

Merced, CA(Zone 9a)

I was out puttering yesterday, planting cuttings, thinking about what I had typed, and realized I had forgotten a few small, minor details. I try both soft and hard wood cuttings, try to have as many joints as possible under the soil, and their waterings includes vitamin B1. I do cuttings only on a cutting day (planting by the moon) and I talk to each of them. I try to do them as close to a full moon as possible because on that next following full moon you should stand over them, wearing mostly green or blue, hover one foot slightly in the air, shake a used baby rattle gently over their heads and murmur "gnorts dna tsaf pu worg" three times, turn around three times clockwise and repeat. You can do this as often as necessary each night there after until you see growth. For those of you who are more comfortable with a gentler persuasion, I have a Celtic ceremony that I can email.

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

ROTF! Now where did I put that old rattle...HAR You are too funny.

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Dear Lady, thank you for your offer, I accept!! I'll try almost anything to make seedlings grow!
Annie

Merced, CA(Zone 9a)

Annie, the other version is simple, just wear something flowy, white or cream preferable, no physical feats, but you need to have a slightly crooked elm or oak branch, 24" to 36" long to wave over the plants. Chant "Siht gnitteg si eno on" instead.....let me know how it works!

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Some plants that I may have available - (most of which I will end up digging before the roundup so they will not be in pots):

Japanese anemome - two varieties - purple ones and white ones (the purple ones will spread via runners so be forewarn) - AnnaC213, white for plantfiend,
Siberian iris - purple
crocosmia
schizostylis coccinea - ladyanne
gaillardia grandiflora
some white ginger dug up months ago, but may still be viable
cymbidium - yellow ( if I get around to thining)
amaryllis belladona
bearded iris - yellow/bronze
yellow orange alstromeria (this variety spreads quickly) - ladyanne, donna,
Louisana iris - pink-purplish - plantfiend,
Euphorbia leuconeura (indoor plant in most cases) - ladyanne
Tulbaghia fragrans (a much better smelling cousin of society garlic)

Looking for:
galanthus
lacecap hydrangea (PudgyMudpies - do you have any left?)
any late blooming plants suitable for cut flowers

Dianne

Dianne,
I have some cuttings in to root, but this heat! Even if they don't take, I can bring you cuttings to root yourself. They are REALLY easy to root as long as you can keep them cool.

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

added some more pink lilys

San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi all. I am so excited about my first roundup! (Donna, I will be there for sure!.)

Donna, I would be very interested in your Corkscrew vive if still available as well as any of the cuttings of the Thunbergia Grandifloras, if they are available. I do have
Alstroemeria established and I can dig up some tubers for you. They are a pink color; I'll see if I can find a photo.

I will put together my list of "stuff" as soon as I can get to it. I am so looking forward to meeting you all!

~Angela

PotEm, I should LOVE some of your Tolmiea menziesii, Kalanchoe or any Impatiens but I fear I have nothing on your wish list! My list is up there somewhere, let me know if I have anything you would like?

Merced, CA(Zone 9a)

Dianne, I would love to have some of your Euphorbia, the yellow orange alstromeria, too, hoping it is different from my orange one! Peek at my list? Thanks! It's getting closer, guys!! Getting excited here, going out to the greenhouse and shaking that rattle over all my cuttings faithfully every night.

Merced, CA(Zone 9a)

Oh, Dianne, what is schizostylis coccinea? I could not find it on the PDB!

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi All - I have been on vacation for the past week and just got back to internet access. Potemup is right about the schizostylis coccinea - names keep changing. I have the reddish color one.

Ladyanne - I'll reserve some yellow alstro for you and a seedling of the euphorbia(along with some seeds). Did you want the schizostylis too? It is good for fall color. Will spread though.

Plant fiend - I would love the chasmanthe, lupine, heliotrope, and foxglove if it is not purplish.Anything from my list that you want? I bought what I thought was a chasmanthe, but it was very wimpy and only flowered once.

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

Welcome back Dianne! Hope you had a good time. The Lacecap hydrangea cuttings look good, may even be rooted by RU. :~)
If you have any Alstroemeria left could I dibs some? Thanks!
Donna

San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi Dianne. I will set those goodies aside for you. I would like some LA irs and white Japanes anemones. I didn't grow the chasmanthes, but I got some large bulbs from another gardener.

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

I am so excited! I just came from Lowes & made a major score on their Clearance table! Everything looked really good on there for a change, and I cannot figure why this stuff was on there! They must have needed the shelf space cuz this stuff looks like what I would pay full price for.
I am going to list it & what I paid for it & whoever wants it for that let me know & I will bring it to RU. There is still more there so if I need to go back tomorrow morning I can.

Clerodendrum bleeding heart (3) $2 each (Janie)
Phaseolus caracalla Snail Vine Purple (1) $2 each (Janie)

Bougainvilla "Maureen Hatten" (1) $1 each

I giggled the whole drive home! It was all I could do to not go back and get the rest. LOL But I had a moment of sanity that said "what if no one wants them???" But it was only a moment. hehehe

Donna

Edited to remove items that are no longer available
