Billy Bob's Texas

This might be a longshot, but has anyone ever been to a concert at Billy Bob's in TX? My son loves Dwight Yoakum and I think I'll take him for his 19th birthday.

I haven't been personally, but my mother and a friend went (not to the same concert LOL). They both absolutely loved it. That was respectively 12 and 10 years ago though so I have no idea what it's like now.

In any case, I think it's a really wonderful idea for your son's birthday. :-)

Now Julie, what are the chances that you, being in ISRAEL, are the one to answer my question?! LOL Thanks, I think if your mom was ok with it then I will be. I thought maybe his dad might want to go since he likes Dwight, but he seemed to be leary of the place. I've been to scarier places so I'm taking him anyways. I took him to see Dwight for his 16th b'day too. Right now, I'm #1 mom! :)

Well, check around with friends or colleagues and see if any of them have gone more recently. Who knows, it could be better or worse than what I've heard about it...

I use to work there years back :O) It was ok most of the time. I helped with security during the concerts. It would depend on who was in concert but things got ugly every now and then (with the women). The biggest problems were outside but from what I understand the police are doing alot more at keeping people away that aren't suppose to be there. I hope that helped a little :)

Thanks Venessa! Doesn't that figure that the women get in more trouble? I'll try to avoid eye contact with any of them. Or should I actually look at them and smile? We won't be going until late when the show starts and we'll leave right afterwards.

I couldn't believe how some of them acted. Depending on who was in concert they would climb on the tables and take their shirts off, a couple of them even got into a fight. It didn't happen much, most of the time it was really nice. Hope you have a good time.

I've been to several concerts at Billy Bob's over the years, although none lately. Other than the sound system not being great, I enjoyed them. It is a pretty small venue and more of a bar atmosphere than a concert hall. Never seen any problems personally. Hope that helps. :-)

I love Billy Bobs! Charlie Robison was there a couple of weekends ago. I like it b/c you get to hear people play that don't normally have full on concert tours. For instance, Pat Benatar is supposed to be there in September (I think). Woo hoo! :)

I was very surprised to see Dwight Yoakum playing there. I thought he filled bigger arenas, but I'm glad it's close to home and indoors. I'm usually having to suffer the heat at Smirnoff.
