Dave's staff sent an e-mail to my yahoo e-mail

Blandinsville, IL(Zone 5a)

Can you tell me why this is done, I am curious if the emails are private or can the staff read all incoming e-mail.

I got a response from Dave. LOL...... It scared me for a minute, that all e-mails were read.

Sorry for the inconveince.

I know that if you send a "Contact Us" email, such as in reporting errors in the PlantFiles, the response comes via the regular email given when you joined and not DG-mail.

Yes, Dave's staff, or dave, has access to all emails public and private on daves garden.

You mean dave can read our private email on yahoo that we may have send cousin susie or uncle joe-which has nothing to do with dave or dave's garden? How can our private email at yahoo be read by dave & his staff? Just wondering.

Only the Dave-mail. He/they send an email to your private account when they need to say something to let you know why, like your thread has been moved, your yearly subscription is due, replying to a "contact us" email you might send, ect.

I seriously doubt that Dave can (or would even care to) access any emails outside of the DG system. Some of us are pretty danged chatty! lol :)

I suspect that kathy_ann meant that Dave can contact us directly through the private email we used to sign up for the site in addition to DG mail... but I'm not trying to put words in her mouth.

As the administrator of the site, I believe he can also access our DG mail files, if necessary. Can't see him having much interest in that, either, unless someone specifically requested that he do so... but that's also just my read on it all as a subscriber and not an administrator. :)

P.S. What Dravencat said, but more succinctly than I. (I was typing at the same time.)

Dravencat, I meant to say you were more succinct than I, so I editted my post again. lol How sweet of you to pop in and help whilst preparing for a vacation... Yippee for you!!! :)

I shouldn't think the DG admin have the time (or inclination) to sit and read all the emails that go out here :)

Yes, I meant, dave /staff can read our private messages sent to each other hear on daves garden, Of course he can't view our other email. No one can without knowing your password.

Like for instance I got a private message once from someone who sent me a web site through daves private message, I contacted dave about it, and he lookd in this person's private messages and said I was the only one he sent that message to. And that this person hadn't done any posting of any kind except that message to me,

Hope this helps, sorry, for the confusion LOL

There's not much for me to add here; ya'll have it correct.

I have no control over anything outside my servers (Like, I can't access your yahoo mail, for example).

Anything that happens on DG is of course stored on the server and is accessible by me. Donna was right, though, we have far more important things than read through D-mail messages. We use the ability strictly to control spam and/or abuses of the system.
