Linda, maybe we could be a zone 8a begging team for Red, ya think, lol! I've been told that Wettable Sulphur is excellent for mites. I haven't tried it, but I have it for Culebra, or anyone else, in the event they need it....good luck!!
Rosamond
Beautiful, Linda!!! We got badly needed rain, but wind, fallen and broken limbs and leaves every place, but they will live and oh that rain was wonderful!! The Wettable Dusting Sulphur was given to me and it's like Siven dust, and it can be used as dust or a spray - if I have to use it, I will use the spray because I have a difficult time dusting the under side of the leaves. It is specifically for Red Spider Mites but I'm told it works for 'all' mites. I haven't had mites, so far, knock on wood, but in the event they invade my Culebra, in particular, I will be ready for them, I hope!!!
Still after the mites, here. After douses of Avid, Neem, Cleary's systemic...they came back!!! SO I am after them with Neem again. Will try the Wettable Sulpher. I think I waited too long between sprayings (2 mins?) and the eggs hatched!!! I was told to alternate the sprays.
Sigh....
Yep, don't cha know it, I'm not even certain perpetual spraying would stop them. But, the co-op said I must have uses something that did because they found no evidence of any mites (that was last year). If anything did it, it would have been the Safer with Seaweed Extract...
Linda, your Rosamond is FABULOUS!! This is one of my favorite brugs. Though I am still just a rookie when it comes to brugs, I know enough to know this one is special. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks plant-fiend. I loved this one too. The low calyx was so different from any others that I have.
I used theBayer 2 in 1 on one area of the yard, they it started raining so I'll have to treat the rest of the yard later.
Sherry, I still haven't found the wettable sulphyr but that will be my next approach if the Bayer doesn't do the job.
Carol & Linda, do you see mites on your plants and, or their leavings? I just got out of the yard, I checked every brug with a magnifying glass and there were not mites. Yet I still have spinach leaves on some brugs, and others that look like mites might have been there. And, it's not on all brugs. I'm pretty sure the majority of my stuff is chemical burn from me trying to kill bugs that don't exist or that have already been run off. I wish I knew the answer. No one else seems to whine like I do about it, but my brug do great until I OD them on chemicals or slugs and cats get them, but I can SEE the slugs and cats, I can deal with something I can SEE, I cannot SEE the mites, it really throws me for a loop...
