Howdy feller DG'ers ...
We're in Oklahoma !! ..
And, by golly .. done up & fetch'd mahseff a wi-fi signal!!! A body could get used to this hi-tech stuff .. and a mite too easily, to boot!! .. LoL ..
With it being so doggone Hee-O-T out . . . we're gonna stay pulled off a spell. Maybe start back out, after the sun goes down a bit. Jes had us a lil bite to eat, and made us some coffee. Coot's now watchin' an old classic; Old Yeller .. on DVD, however .. from my latest observations; looks like he jes mite be gonna catch 'im a lil snoozle too! .. heehee ..
Me? .. I'm gonna play a spell! That is .. until I run out of a signal for my Notebook!!
Jes took a couply of pics of my Notebook 'setup' @ the kitchen table, and thot I'd share the scene with you guys ... Please make notice, of my new fangled Notebook Stand. Cost all of nuthin', but a lil wood, tad o'sweat, and the ol roller bearing 'Lazy Susan' contraption it's built on. So's to enable me to turn the screen around and show stuff to the ol Coot, should the need arise!! .. I can simply lock it back into one position, by means of a lil wooden peg that stores on the side!! .. hee .. Caintcha tell - - I'm so very proud !!
Here's a couply pitters fer ye! ..

Now, don'tis beat all !!?!!
Pretty cool.
Great idea putting the lazy susan on the bottom, Magpye.
If you and the Coot get a hankering to visit the KY Roundup, there's wi-fi there (big grin).
:) K
Very cool but where's Magpye now?
Is she in Oklahoma still?
A looooooong overdue .. 'Howdy', to all of you wunnerful folks !!!
Thanks .. for the wonderful invite, GardenWife! Mitey mitey sweet of ya!!
We're still out in New Mexico, and am truly enjoying the visits with plenty of family folk, the dry climate and the relatively cool nites. But, gosh doggit, the dry winds and the nasty lil dust devils that pop up every now & again, are playin' havoc with my ol skin, and my already defective eyesight! .. hee hee .. But, we're hangin' in'ar ok! ..
Kim, thought ya mite like to know .. that, at this very moment .. I am officially givin' the Mozilla Firefox browser a lil test drive - round the block, so-to-speak! .. hee ..
See .. we drive into Grants 'bout every 5 days or so, for supplies, etc. - and the town incidentally jes happens to have computer access at the county Library. There's also a quaint lil cyber-cafe (coffee & sandwich shop) .. that offers free wi-fi access with your meal .. along with providing a couple of PC's, for customer use. Used my notebook until I got down to 15% battery life remaining .. and didn't want to risk loosin' my info and files .. so shut her down, then popped over onto their PC's!! And instantly discovered that their using the Firefox browser ...
I've already gotta give it some token of credit .. with the limited toyin' I've done! Heck, I've only been to DG, so far!! .. HEE .. It seems to be a bit easier on my eyes; less harsh - not so cram'd, so-to-speak ... I'll take advantage of the cafes' provision, and experiment a bit more with toyin' with Firefox ...
Angele ... wanted to let you know, that the area where we are in New Mexico (between Grants & Ramah) .. is quite beautiful. Our daughter here, really likes the wide open space .. and being able to see who's comin' to her gate!! We're enjoyin' it also .. but sure do miss the privacy of our big ol hardwood trees pokin' up around the Coots Roost, in NW Arkansas! .. Not so bad enuff, that I'm ready to head for home yet, tho' ... (hee) ...
We've jes about got the yunkin' talked into lettin' her Dad put her up a nice 'log' feeder!
We've been enjoying placing (and strowin' about) sunflower and other mixed seed .. for the birds that visit her property. It's mostly Pinyon and Juniper .. so, there's tons of variety of birdlife, including the Hummers. But the lil boogers, won't sit still at the feeders long enuff for me to shoot 'em! (with camera, of course!) .. Some of the birds I've been able to ID, are Pinyon Jays, House Finches, seems several varieties of Flycatchers, a couple of different Sparrows, the Mountain and Western Blue Birds, Nuthatches, Common Ravens, several types of crow, & a family of Hairy Woodpeckers .. And of course, the infamous Cow Birds are out here also! . Geez, I think they've got about 3 or 4 different species of the Cow Birds!! With a large horse barn, what could one expect otherwise !?! .. hee ..
I'm simply 'eating up' the time I can spend with the one new lil grt-grandy-gal baby, here .. and the birdies, of course .. We'll be goin' a bit north this weekend, to see those other two lil grt-grandy-doll gals, there in the Farmington area!!
The daughter is usually sooo doggone busy with horses, she's had little time to concentrate on any other form of wildlife and viewing! (well, other than the Jack Rabbit, and the chase that resulted in her getting bang'd up purtee good! She's recoverin' very well.
We did manage to talk her into going to the hospital ER for a good doctor look-over. No apparent broken ribs, but could've have gotten a few hairline cracks, that wouldn't've necessarily show up on any x-rays. Also confirmed that she had no collapsed lungs!! She's jes beginning to be able to get about normal ranch affairs .. but still guarded with her right rib cage/side. Now, two weeks later . . . would anyone care to take a wild guess at jes who got astride same said 4 wheeler, to round up her mares yesterday evenin' ?!? I could've pinched her head off, should've I'd've been able to get to her before hand!!!
Some more really exciting news, is .. that things are comin' along relatively successful for her .. with her very 1st EVER .. veggie garden!!! The gals in her early 40's .. and she's always had her mind on horse hocks, saddles, and ridin' .. until this year!! .. LOL .. Fortunately, she'd planted her veggie garden, before she took her spill!! .. We're proud of and for her. She's got her maters and a few pepper plants over in a flower bed along the front porch. Then, there's three of the sweetest lil short rows of sweet corn up and growin' very well .. some cukes, cumbers, and squash .. and she's tryin' her hand at watermelons, to boot!! .. She's fortunate to have a water well on her property, and only recently installed some solar panels for the water pump! So, on cloudy days .. it's 'iffy' .. but on the whole, she's got plenty moisture to supply to the lil veggies!!
She finally determined, that she'd mistakenly planted her snap beans a wee bit deep .. for the ground had been still much too cool for germination. She was more concerned with preventing the birds from fetchin' her seed!! .. hee .. We'd dug most carefully, to explore and determine if any hint of bean seed were visible; and, naturally either rotted or attempting in vain to germinate! .. hee .. She got a good chuckle out of herself, when we found the seed .. still whole seed, and the ground 6-8 inches down, still very cold!! .. LOL .. As you guys may can imagine, she's plum tickled with herself and her lil garden! We're workin' now, toward gettin' some kind of adequate fencing up around the garden bed, to keep the horses and the dogs out of it. The crows and ravens will be a whole nuther ball game, I afraid. They're takin' regular flights over the area, to check the progress !! .. HeeHee ..
I suppose that I really should be posting this other info and updates .. in/on another forum and subject! Especially since the 'flavor' is changin' somewhat ...
Primarily .. I did want you guys to know, that I am somewhat limited to how often I can get to town to access the internet. But, there is a possibility, that the daughter may get internet access soon tho' ... She's long had satellite service (via use of a large diesil generator for her home) .. and states, that she's long been considerin' checkin' into adding the internet service too! But, thinks she may give greater consideration to adding the dish to her RV instead .. so she can jes take it with her where ever she goes! (Naturally, I'm a bit hopeful that she'll do it all .. while we're here also!) .. hee hee ..
I'll try to arrange for Terry or Dave, to perhaps transfer this thread elsewhere .. if anyone has any difficulties with the posts here on the pooter forum.
Love ya all ...
Magpye
I enjoyed catching up with you in that post! Sounds like you're having a great time, making a big difference wherever you go. :) You're probably not there posting anymore, so I'll e-mail and ask for the thread to go to General Discussion or wherever it seems to fit. More people need to read it!
Magpye! So glad to know you're out there somewhere! Have a great vacation--it sounds wonderful...enjoy! t.
