Searching Problem

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

I just added a Musa 'Novak' to the plantfiles, then I entered Novak into the general search and also the cultiver search bar and nothing came back.

This happens a lot with other things I've added and other plants I haven't added but searched for. I'll look for a species or cultiver and it won't show up unless I enter the genus and search through all of them. I entered the correct spelling.

Michelle, I think there is a time delay between adding a new plant to the PlantFiles and its being accessible via any of the searches. I just tried the Cultivar search for your plant and it came up straight away,

Hmm, I bet you're right.

Yes, it should show up by now.

Sometimes the search engine seems to be case-sensitive.
Also, when it finds nothing, it leaves you hanging instead of saying "Results 0" or something similar.

Actually phishing for commentary here, especially from Da Man.

If you have an example of a word or phrase that returns no results, or one where case-sensitivity keeps you from getting good results, please post them here. (That's probably the easiest way for Dave to see exactly what you're talking about, and fix it or explain why it works that way.)

Here you go:

and for the second part of the equation - is there a post you can point to where you've written the word dipladenia (capitalized or not)?

It is true about the count, but not the case-sensitivity:

Quoting:
. . . when it finds nothing, it leaves you hanging instead of saying "Results 0" or something similar.

and that can become frustrating.

True enough. Dave, do you want to add a note similar to what a person gets when they search their journal or PlantFiles and come up empty-handed?

Quoting:
No results found!

Try making your search a little less specific.

Done!

Great, and in technicolor to boot!
Thanx much.
