A Chinese Song for Fathers

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

On the coming of Father's Day, this classical Chinese song (translated by me) 'Father and I' is dedicated to great fathers on earth.

It is you who created this family
And then created me
It is you who lead my hand
Walking through from yesterday to today
Ah... my dear Papa
You are most beloved
Ah... my kind Papa
You are my idol of the future

When you finish a day's labor
Dragging your heavy body
You steps into this house which belongs to you
What you concerns most is still whether I have been back
With pipes of tabacco you smoke till daybreak
With a jar of wine you forget your sadness and worries
Sometimes Mom chatters on you and hates you
But you never blame for anything

In your eyes often appear the scenes
I am being beaten to the ground
And in the long long dark night
I am being cheated and tricked
No, not at all, my dear Papa
These are just what your worrying illusions
Because I am not an unlucky son
Because I have a good Papa
i will share with you sadness and worries
And I will not let you worry about me any more
You will always lead my hand
Walking towards the endless future

Simply beautiful!

djm906,
This song has been prevailing for years throughout China. It is sung by Teng Ger a famous Inner Mongolian singer. The vast Mongolian Grassland brings up this man and develops his deep-sounded and unrestrained manners in his singing. The 'Father and I' sings out a great figure of a father who regards his son as his sustenace of hope and hapiness.

Thanks all. I tried to download the music, but failed.
You can search in your local video store for TengGer's CD's. Music is universal, as we know. Though sung in Chinese, you can feel the imaginative beauty of the song.
