Birthday List- waaaaa

What am I doing wrong? I have put my birthday into the my info page but it's not showing up on the birthday list under extras. My 50th is coming up real soon and I am so looking forward to happy bithdays from my DG friends.. It won't be fun if I have to start my own happy birthday thread.. LOL but I will

I had the same problem. Entered my BDay many times and nothing. Even submitted it the night before and still no Happy Birthday wish. Soo sad...how pathetic am I? LOL!

The same thing has happened to me. I've entered my b-day many times and it still doesn't show up on the list. Mine is long gone by now, but it will be nice to have the DG members wish you a happy BDay. I hope it gets resolved by the time my new BDay comes.

Do you think there may be a problem with that feature with all the upgrades going on? Right now I'm looking at an ad for SpringHillNursery.com (Feedback-Ads by Google) thats showing up right under your post to me. Can you see it too?

I figured with all the new members and everything going on the Bday list is on a back burner.. maybe the homepage would end up a mile long now that the 'family' has gotten so big. I'm not letting my 50th go by though :-) I've got some nerve don't I?
Yep, google ads here too, I like them at the bottom of the page better than on the side. I hate pop-ups but this kind of ad really doesn't bother me at all. I'm just guessing but I think Dave & Terry know about this. Had a few errors on pages too.. but I am chalking it up to bugglets for now.

42 is still young, enjoy it as much as you can. With age comes wisdom or so they say. My son just turned 21 and the only thing I wished I have is the energy he's got, other than that I'm enjoying my age (I'm much older than you).

Thank you Toni, I think that age is all a mental thing. There are days that I wonder how I can be as old (as in years) when I feel like a kid most of the time. When I discover something new in my garden or in any other activity I get as excited as a 4 year old, full of amazement and marvel at my new discoveries. It's true that the body doesn't want to cooperate at times, but as long as I can learn something new everyday I say who cares how many years my driver's license says. I give a lot of importance to birthdays they are a celebration of someone's life. So let's celebrate!!!!

Hey, if you don't get birthday wishes here, the whole birthday doesn't count so you get an automatic "do-over". You can stay the same age for an extra year, in fact. Ya'll must have missed that thread. :)

I celebrate my birthday (30 August) all month long -- the actual day is just the final celebration. I'll be 58 this year --- amazing! As my brother says,"It doesn't look that old from in here."

My 40th is coming up next month and I think I'll celebrate by buying 40 of everything I want. ha!

angele, I want to ask a dumb question. Are you going to your "My Info" page, then the preferences page, then clicking on birthday?

If you are, and it still doesn't show up in the birthday list for your date (under the Extras Tab) then you should email Dave.

Note: You should clear your cache after entering your birthday info otherwise you will see a cached page of birthdays.

Thanks darius not a dumb question at all. Lots of times it is the basic stuff that gets overlooked. But I have done exactly what you said probably 10 times.. plus on your note part I have my computer set to clear cache and load new pages on each visit. I just emptied all the temporary files a couple of days ago.. IE has a place that stores all that so you have to empty that too. I don't want to email Dave about this with everything on his plate. BTW I try to send Bday greetings to subscribers through DGmail and don't think I have seen any recent subscribers on the list. I am very glad I saw the thread in this forum that was started by gardenwife this morning .

PS I have an Aunt in NC, near Goldsboro... everytime I see one of your posts it makes me think of her. And, I love your picture on your homepage :-)

I follow the birthday list a lot, unless I am extremely busy or away from home. I send DGmails, and ecards to those where I have a private email address. I think it keeps us connected better, more like family.

I had not noticed that new subscriblers aren't on the list. I do see a lot of names I do not recognize, but there are a lot of forums I never visit. I actually only have had minimal contact with a few new members in several months, and that includes you.

Would you believe I actuallly know where Goldsboro is? LOL.

I send welcome letters to new members and I do see their names pop up on the birthday list every now and then. Can't tell you how long ago that's been as I've slept a few times since then.

I follow both lists almost every day.

If you, and they, are in the addy exchange and they have shared that info, then it shows up on there. You can also go to the "extras" tab and then click on "DG Birthday list", but goes by the month not name.

That's a great idea, Carol. Maybe you should suggest it to the "Powers That Be."

I think I found the reason why some people weren't being seen on their birthday, and I fixed the problem. Most likely nobody will be left out going forward.

I am very sorry to all of you who were missed. :( These are the kinds of bugs that are actually sad.
