I've become a serial killer.
Why were snails put here on earth? Here are the only two reasons that I can think of:
Snails are better looking than earwigs.
Snails make pretty silver designs on the sidewalk.

Do Snails go to Heaven?
Not to my Heaven they don't.... if so I don't want to go there.

I usually try to exterminate them as fast as I can. They just ate my spider lily again as it was putting forth its new leaves.
It took me a while to find some other reasons snails are useful. :o)
Snails are eaten by many other animals.
Some do not eat live plants so they clean up debri and turn it into plant nutrients.
Native peoples used its shell for jewelry and for bartering.
The snail provides a good decription for something that moves slowly ... "at a snail's pace", "snail-mail", etc.
The have very small "brains" so they are used in studies involving memory.
Being an inticate part of the food chain, they (especially aquatic snails) provide a clue as to how polluted an area is because if pollution is wreaking havoc on the snail population, humans will be affected as well. So, they are a great monitoring device for the environment.

They can be pets that don't take a lot of care: don't have to be walked, vaccinated, no need for a litter box, food is readily available, etc.

They can be a food source (yuck).

I still hate them ...

Snail Heaven, where the streets are lined with hosta leaves :-)
htop! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Yea Riker, MY hostas!!
:-) Mine too
My dh likes to put a few side by side and see which one wins the "race"!
I hate snails, but I LOATHE slugs. At least I can pick the snails up by their shell and throw 'em across the grumpy neighbor's fence (another good use for them). lol!
Snails: You can get them in some restaurants, They are called escargot. In France they are considered a gourmets delight. All you need is to find a market. Just a thought. Europeans ( French in particular) can only dream of the wonderful snails in California.
